Engadget are reporting this:

They reckon it's €322, which works out at a direct translation of £250ish (rough estimate).
Only a rumour, mind.

would this be for the core system only?
No idea TBH... All I know is what was on that page.
Might have another look around though to see if there's any more news.
Given the amount of money spent on developing it compared to Nintendo and MS, and the amount of money it actually costs to build one (and all the problems they've had) I'd be surprised if it was that cheap for the full thing - that's probably the core system and the "proper one" will be for people with pockets too deep to care
From what i've read there won't be a "core" type system. All PS3's will come with a Hdd. Sony have had a chance to see what MS have done with the Core V's Premium and all it does is confuse the market. Hopefully Sony won't follow MS's mistake.Originally Posted by 803hart
Well PS3 systems are already on preorder here in holland with a price tag of 499 Euro
and thats just 1 bluetooth controler and a 60gb HD which i am assuming counts as the core system but as already stated above there is no lower spec system

That's not the official price though, that's just what the shop has guessed the price at, unless thay have *very* good contacts at Sony..

I'm going to get the Nintendo console and the PS3, I just can't stand the Xbox 360.
I hope the Metal Game is a launch title.
I actually don't know much about either console, I no longer follow consoles as I'm now a PC gamer and a casual console gamer.
Fro: That's pretty much what I'm going to do if the Revo's price point is low enough..
Which is where I think Ninty are going to score if they get the price point low enough (along with the price of the games), they'd quite easily score big on the "2nd console" action.
Although I'm never going to "have a Wii next to my PS3"...

I'll get a Wii no matter what as the first party titles will be (as per) a league above anything Microsoft or Sony could dream up.
PS3; I'll look at the games first.
Happy with my 360, although apart from Oblivion and Kameo the games are a little too arcadey for me. After a few games of Dead or Alive or Burnout I'm looking for some Mario or Zelda action again.
Still, Street Fighter II on the 360 soon. Then everything else doesn't matter for a while.
