    oblivion fighting tips

Hi I am really getting into oblivion now for the pc but the annoying thing for me is when I am fighting these goblins like creatures and these guys in red robes that turn into something else. I am finding it difficult to kill these creatures.

I have recently joined the blades and I use their amour and sword but it’s so hard to kill the enemy because they keep blocking nearly every single attack of mine.

is their any useful tips in doing sword fighting with these bad guys? Btw my character is a warrior type. i haven’t got that far in the game so am still a noob at it.

Fighting on Oblivion comes with practice and once you have it you are laughing, like riding a bike !

I always hold the run key even during battles for charging at the enemy to try and get the first hit in. You will find also the more you use a skill the faster it will level up.

How I do it is hold up my shield constantly and let them swipe at you, it gets your shield skill higher when hit as well as blocking the attack. Then just as the contact with your shield ends from the enemy move forwards and swipe at them. Most cases it will make contact, as soon as you have hit the critter shield back up and repeat.

Don't let yourself get backed into a corner with more than one enemy as it becomes extremely difficult to block and you will most likely die. This is moreso the case when you are higher levels.

It's literally keep practising, when you start becoming proficient at using shields and weapons you will gain extra skills like a shield bash and knockdown. When this happens you can really cause some damage especially if you also have a few of the weapon skills.

You said you have joined the blades, so I would get 2 of their Katana as I found it is one of the better swords near the start. Put both of the swords in the quickslots as if you don't have time to repair one during the heat of battle you can quickly swap to the other one. Don't know whether you have noticed or not that weapons and armour gradually decrease during battle so you have to keep repairing them to be succesful. So going on what I have just said, keep a good supply of repair hammers with you. At first you will find yourself going through loads of hammers, but as skill increases you damage less of them whilst doing running repairs.

Finally, on top of the 2 Katanas keep a silver weapon handy for when you start encountering ghosts, makes life much easier ! You may want to find a place called Amelions Tomb, I found a decent Ebony Sword in there which I still use now. It is on the right side of the river near Leyawin (can't remember whether it is north of south from leyawin however). Don't collect and sell the armour though if you do decide to go there as you will need it for a quest in Bruma to help a woman get out of debt. Also if you do this make sure you get the silver weapon as there are ghosts in there !

Before continuing the story it may be worthwhile joining the fighters guild and start doing their quests to level up a bit and get a bit of practice fighting. First few missions you will be accompanied by a few other guild members so it is ideal.

In, slash, out, block, repeat until dead. that and ferral's ti[s will see you right.

Stamina is very important too. Try setting auto-run point at a corner then go to bed

Turn the difficulty down? There is a slider after all.
