The end of Gothic?

JoWood and Piranha Bytes, makers of the Gothic series of games, have split to go their seperate ways.

Negotiations were on-going regarding the future of the series - specifically development of a large scale patch for Gothic 3, possibly funded by an add-on or future title, but seem to have broken down.

Shame. Gothic 3 has/had a lot of potential and I preferred it to Oblivion for gameplay.

I don't know what happened to german developers though, they used to be awesome, bringing out games that were virtually bug free, now it seems any major title that comes out from there is riddled with game breaking bugs. I would've really like Gothic 3, but it was just too broken for my liking.

Gothic 1 and 2 were also buggy as heck. Gothic 3 just has different bugs

All the ingredients of a great game, sadly not quite fused together.
Took me quite a bit of tweaking to get a stable setup. Let's hope work will continue on the game, or it may be another elite 3.

Gothic 4 was just announced by JoWood. Looking for other developers than Piranha Bytes obviously..
