You need to go into the system tab --> display --> resolution and then change the resolution to 1280 x 1024. It sounds like your running at standard definition using the cable.

i think i have that...my prob is not that i dont have it fullscreen...cuz i do, the prob is its not in HD...anyway will check the settings and get back to you.
EDIT: Ok its full screen if i set it to 1280X720 but i get the black strips down the side with 1280X1024 ...my actual pc res is 1440X900 ...but if i leave it on 1280X1024 will it be HD, lol sorry im a complete noob with these things :$

Sounds like you're running at 720p to me shogran. The black lines down the side are because you're displaying 720 lines, but the monitor is set to 1024, so it fills the extra lines with black pixels.
Its nothing to worry about, it seems that you are def running 720p, which is the best quality you can output through that monitor
How do i change that, i noticed when i had it hooked to the tv i could change somthing that had numbers like 720...but now its on monitor i dont seem to have that option :S?
You should have that option in the 360 settings
Will have a look...in console then display right?
ok, had a play test in 1280X1024 and theres no picture quality difference i can see.. no HD and i cant find any way of changing the 720 thing anywhere...as i said i could when it was on the TV, but on my VGA adapter i cant... so i might have to go back to 1280X720
Some games only display in a widescreen aspect on tft's which is immenly annoying. Gears of War used to till it was updated and PGR3 used to suffer as well. As far as I'm aware there are still certain games which will only display in widescreen aspect ratio. That could well be your problem
Ok will try gears of war ^^, will this also make it HD?
no luck...put in GoW loaded it and it was still not full screen...if i revert to 1280X720 is there a way of making that HD?
1280*720 is HD......its 720p
but the graphics in...lets say elder scrolls: oblivion look pretty bad...way better in screenshots ive seen on HD's and things...does this mean my monitor doesnt support / show HD?
Will try now.
Hmm not looking any more HD'ish lol... slightly bigger picture but again not fullscreen...it only looks a lil stretched on 1280X720 so i not bothered about picture...just REALLY want HD...should i just buy a new monitor / tv with vga?
Get a dell 2407, great monitor and it will do full HD (1080p)
