    I've not had an issue with them. I've barely used my net connection recently though. Can't say I had any issues at all though regarding my net connection.

Friday evening the same thing happened, however this time it never returned to 2Mbit so I called the Bangalore help line. After suggesting that every piece of my equipment was at fault and having me remove or disable each one, my connection was reset by the 'techie'. What he neglected to tell me was that when your connection is reset you drop back to the slowest speed Turdgin support which is 512k. So after another call to tech support and a xfer over to customer support I got my 2Mbit back.
    Saturday evening the same story so I called tech support again, at first I was told "I see you use a router", but before he could finish the crib sheet guff about it being at fault I informed him that I had disconnected it. Then I got the "well at peaks times blah blah" which I suggested was rubbish as in all the years I have been with NTL I have never had a speed drop. Finally he tells me that Engineers are working on this problem and it won't be fixed until next week.
    I am of the opinion that we will be getting more of this poor service, Virgin is all slick marketing and really very little substance.
    NOT worth ringing up to complain then ???

    Something hasnt been right with mine for quite a while now.

    I have the new purple/blue modem and my connection was rock solid at 3.7 Mbps using thinkbroadband's test. Now though when i test using the same test I get 1.1 Mbps all the time, YET when i tried downloading a linux iso it was coming though at 450+ kB/s (3.6 Mbps). Surfing feels slow though and youtube an places seem slowish.

    I tried connecting direct to the modem I tried a different computer I tried it in linux its always the same. Maybe it could be thinkbroadband but my friend on ADSL is having no such probs with it.

    You can just tell something is not right with it.

    Silly Silly, it's NTL, they've bought the rights to use the Virgin name and Virgin mobile, so you'll find it's actually still NTL's fault.

    Most people wouldn't understand that though. All Virgin have done is bought out NTL, or done some kind of claiming the rights to NTL.

    As I said earlier, my Internet has been absolutely fine.

    No, the opposite, NTL bought the rights to Virgin's name and the mobile service for £950 million.

    Thats not quite right, it was an 18% share in NTL + A cash sum per year for Mr Branson in return for use of the Virgin name for 4 years, and Virgin Mobile.

    So basically, NOTHING has happened to the service apart from the media advertised about what's going on. So these issues that have been happening with users are just bad luck as opposed to "Virgin being crap" - because it's actually just NTL still. Heh.

    no

    The official line is:

    Virgin Central (the new on demand service) is sucking all the bandwidth away but this is only a problem in areas where the network equipment is older. Virgin claim they are replacing it all now so speeds in affected areas should be sorted soon.

    The perfectly serviceable network inherited from NTL and Telwest has been crippled (in some places) by the new on demand service but they are upgrading equipment to eliminate the problems.

    Classic slipup there by Virgin.

    You shouldn't wait until your hashtable is 100% full before resizing it; you shouldn't wait until your graphics card can't even get a game to load before upgrading it (let alone play at >25fps); nor should you saturate an infrastructure to the point at which it stops being reliable... woops!

    Here's a tip Virgin: Assess, upgrade, rollout new services. Beats rollout, wtf, assess, upgrade the now broken bits.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();
