well, I think your being silly to be honest.

1.) your not an enthusiast so your not going to be doing this on a regular basis - so you've got no real need to learn - take it to the shop
2.) you've spent £700 on kit - you can't expect anyone to come around and mess with that without either agreeing with you that if they break it you won't hold them responsible or they have insurance - take it to the shop.
3.) you've just said you have no idea what your doing - yet your telling people that you'll pay £40 per hour, and it will only take one hour, how do you know it will only take one hour if you don't know what your doing ? if you want to learn while this is going on I suspect it will take quite a few hours - take it to the shop and agree a flat price to do the build.
4.) all the time your using on this forum to find people you don't know their abilities or skill sets yet you seem to trust over a guy whos got a computer shop because you don't trust him, find another computer shop and take it to them then rather than waiting for random joe to repond on a forum (see above reasons),
    It is Inevitable.....

It honestly isn't that hard to do yourself. I've only built the one rig, the one im on and that was 18 months ago now.

I thought i had no clue, but i printed off a guide of the net, made sure id read everything i neeeded before hand, and just went through it step by step, it was really easy. Now im sure i could do it without a guide, ive replaced that many peoples components etc, took PC's apart and tested them for friends etc since i done my own build.

Needs new monitor / speakers / headphones / keyboard.
Before that i need money :s

I'll be heading back into london soon, to visit my fathers grave. so will be staying with family in bermondsey so can easily arrange to visit earlier if you seriously need your computer sorting asap. what part of blackheath do you live in as I go through there myself when coming from manchester.

Blackheath eh? I'm in Catford. TBH I think you're being a bit of a wimp not doing it yourself but then equally my friend and I once toasted a £120 1GHz Athlon on a PC build because we were used to K6s that didn't instantly cook themselves if you switched them on without a heatsink.

If you can't sort anything out with someone else, then PM me and I'll see what I can do. I haven't built a new PC since about 2003 but I don't think much has changed.

You can keep your £40 too- I only work for beer.

Yea, I nearly broke a nice am2 processor by not seating the heatsink correctly, but you're always learning.

I love doing PCs and would help you for a cup of tea, but unfortunately am not in London. But I do hate seeing PC world making a mint out of people. I'm sure there's someone who'll pop round for a few hours, don't think it's all that daft. Maybe just pop into the PC shop and ask one of the sales assistants if he wants to come round for a few hours on the weekend.

If you can find someone who can build a pc, install and set up the operating system properly in under an hour then I'd like to meet them' because my friend you have found Superman.

If I'm building a pc for a friend I usually say it takes around 3-4 hours. If I'm building a PC for me then it can easily take 2-3 days (watercooling, sleaving and stealthing cables etc, plus beer & fag breaks )

Also you say you never want it to crash. Well I'm afraid you're going to have to revise your expectations, it's running Windows, it will crash at some point.

I built My PC myself after not really having a clue, just read two or three guides before and had no problems whatsoever.

Seriously its very easy and if you say that your wanting someone to come around to show you what to do, i would say that there is no better way than having a go yourself.

It will also take a lot closer to 3 or four hours taking in the whole aspect of building it, including opening everything and then building, installing, drivers, etc, etc.

And im slightly confused why you didnt chose a pre built option as i think that would have been alot better idea for your situation...

As everyone has said, it's pretty simple. Most things fit in only one place, and if there are multiple slots for it, would probably work in any of them.

Try it yourself, the first time I built my PC I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, and it all went well (still running today as my WHS).

    Hope this helps,

    Dave

Have you managed to find anyone?

I could help you but I think it will take more than an hour, unless you are happy to do the OS install yourself.
