    NatWest Systems Unavailable 01/06/07

Did anyone have any issues with natwest last night. I can't see anything in the news about it.

I went to withdraw some money last night from a TSB machine and I was told "We cannot contact your provider". I thought it may have just been that machine. I went to a halfix machine to withdraw some money, I was told "service unavailable", at this point I wondered if there was a problem with my account so hit services and balance and order a new cheque book, and on both occassions I was told service unavailable.
I then went to whereI know there is a natwest branch with 2 machine and there is one in a shop across the road, all 3 of the natwest machines said "Sorry out of service on them", I wrote it off as natwest being unavailable, later that night I went past two more natwest machines all with the out of service message on them.

Did anyone else notice anything like this with natwest (I didn't try online banking or anything like that). Or was this limited to the Bath Area. I noticed it around 9:45 - 10:30-ish after that I didn't see/need another cash point.
    It is Inevitable.....

I tried to login to the Natwest online banking last night and it just kept timing out. I tried around 10-11pm and couldn't get it to work.

I logged into NatWest this morning but couldn't see any of my bank accounts, only my credit cards.

Currently says it's unavailable now though, must have had a fairly serious brainfart.

Thought it is strange being all offline for so long this morning.

Should have gone to check their cashpoints...

Is it me, or does this hint at our reliance on electronics? Cashpoints/Card Machines go, and we can no longer buy anything. I know carrying a card is safer than large amounts of cash, but a bit of PITA if this happens after you've just paid for £60 worth of fuel for instance?

    Was just going to post

It is very strange for something on as big a scale as this to happen...

If it happens again, I was able to get cashback with no issues by purchasing a 50p can of drink in a supermarket (which I wanted anyway).

I spoke to the cashier and she was already aware of the NatWest issue on the cashpoint at the front of the store.

I couldn't withdraw cash from a Barclays account using a Barclays cash machine... HSBC's cash machine worked fine however.

arrh I thought something was up.. tried the natwest machine in town and that didn't work for 3 of my mate's cards. Luckily there's one 30 secs walk from where the natwest machine is located
