If this could have been done 10 or 20 years ago, I don't know why this isn't already on the market.
I assume it would work by having a central distribution point of energy in your house, which everything else would feed off. A bit like a wireless router now. Just can't wait for the news headlines:
"Wireless electricity is frying our brains"
"My electricity bill is 500% above normal thanks to my neighbour"
lol, it could get intersting if the signal dropped/sudden disconnects!
couldn't be bothered to read the wifi power thing (been done before ain't it?) but did notice this in the most read bit
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/6732003.stmA wheelchair user has been taken for a high-speed ride along a US highway after his handlebars became tangled up in the front grille of a lorry
My toothbrush charges wirelessly..
But this is resonance, rather than induction (similar I know) - we've had induction wireless power for years.
im definately getting old.
the first thing I thought was "what on earth is that doing to my insides, and my brain?"
A good strong wireless signal can fry things.....ask the pigeons in Milton Keynes that get in the way of the building-to-building signals of the large corporations.
/opts out and strokes his 3 pin plug socket...

So you don't need to plug all your devices into different addapters to charge them, but put them down on the table mat or mouse mat sized induction panel.
I'm with Zak on the health concerns.
Only 40% efficiency though....watch all the eejits wonder why their bills go through the roof after they install nothing but wireless lighting.
"look ma, no wires! And now no house since the power company reposessed it 'cause I can't pay my bill"
