I use a fishing rod with a small hook, baited with chocolate. The hard part is hooking them once they nibble. Very easy to reel in. Not good served as sushi.

I used to hear a mouse/rat (sounded big and heavy, so for all I know it could have been an elephant) in the attic (terraced house).

I bought one of those electronic ultrasonic plugs which also sends out electromagnetic signals for up to 2m from any electric cables in the house which makes it uncomfortable for the rodent (or elephant) to nest in the walls.

Since the thing is plugged in my room (no sockets in the attic yet) the ultrasonic bit is a bit useless (no line of site) but the electromagnetic signals seem to be doing the job and I haven't heard anything since. Also doesn't affect dogs or reptiles (at least my pet dog and snakes don't seem to be ).

Try using cat food on the trap.

    Whiskas worked well for us.
