They're not an elegant use of English, but they're correct. And that's that.
The greatest thing concerning the English language is it's richness and adaptability. It isn't constrained, however, there is no reason for inelegance even if technically correct.

But yup - English is wonderful rich, versatile and, used properly, evocative.
and it has a wonderful variety of swear words, innuendos and double entendres

Back in my uni days, a friend sat down in a lecture hall and clobbered his knee HARD on a steel bracket supporting the wooden platform we rested notepads and things on. I mean, he got himself right on the kneecap, and very hard indeed. Hard enough that he limped for about a week. Anyway .... he let rip with a torrent of invective that went on .... and on ... and seemingly on. And he was none too quiet about it either. It seemed to me that he held forth for about three minutes, and I don't remember him repeating himself. After about 15 seconds of it, I sat down and started taking notes, because I was learning things.
Well, this was the uni's main lecture theatre. It seated about 400. And it was FULL. It was also noisy .... until he started his 'speech'. Gradually, the whole place went quiet. I'm not sure if it was shock or admiration. I even heard people that hadn't been in the hall at the time talking about it afterwards, because word had spread. Me? Well, I was sitting right next to him at the time, so I had a ringside seat.
He even got a round of applause which, at the time, he didn't think was at all funny.
I wish I had a recording of that outburst.
Oh, and by the way, it was a colourful show, too, and not just because he turned the air blue. His face went several interesting colours, as the pain hit his brain. First he went red, then white, then a kind of purpley-crimson, then green, then white again.
