It was not about a slight disagreement, and it was not about which CPU was faster, either.
Nor was the decision mine. It was discussed by the Admin team. I admit I referred it to them, but I left it to them, because I was too close to it. The decision, ultimately, was taken by the team and then endorsed by David, and the final decision was not for disagreeing with anybody.
So far as I'm concerned, it's history and stays that way.
Ade does know, because of his ridiculous memory, but is staying firmly out of this.

If Stewart, or anyone else, wants to raise this one, I'd suggest doing so with an Admin (except me) or with David, by mail or PM. But this thread, or GD for that matter, isn't the place for it.

But I WAS one of the Admins who firmly agreed with poor old....../delete name, being banned, when poor old Saracen and he crossed swords, and then it got personal. Nowt to do with cpu's by the end of it. And as with many a thing, unless you know what went on behind closed doors, you can't judge it.
However....I know we did right, and not cos Sara and I were in cahoots with other admins.
However, the chap in question was really very highly rated by many forum members, including I think Saracen, until that episode.
:O I remember that episode and this is going back to 2003 ish.
