Looks like you can take the Jubulee line to Waterloo and get a bus from there to Euston

(Or for silly trip length, Jubulee to Green Park, Picadilly Line to Angel, 10 minute walk to Euston)

Get on the Thameslink (or First Capital Connect, as it's really called) - you can go direct from London Bridge to King's Cross Thameslink, then it's a short walk to Euston. *And* I think a tube pass is valid for the journey.

While I lived there the bastards would time the strikes for the worst possible days, and usually arrange a nice long weekend for themselves.

Since buses are pretty rare inside Paris the closure of the Metro is pretty much a complete shutdown of the city. I had a 10km journey, which I used to do by cycling, but even that is a bugger in the sweaty heat of Paris in July.

Still, at least you get a break from the beggars.

    Re: Tube Strikes

Went on the Paris underground in a very cold December a few years back. Everything smelt slightly of wee and body odour, even when it was below 10 degrees outside. Since then, I think everything French related smells

Well, I just jumped on the Piccadilly Line at 4:20 to see what it was like and get home without getting stuck in the rush, it was fairly quiet. Train home from Kings Cross was busy, but still got home before I'd normally even leave the office which was nice

    Re: Tube Strikes

Just got home after a 2 hour trek across London. Some stations were still open, but they would shut Victoria!
Managed to get a seat on the bus but boy what a bore! People have no chance along the way as they bus stops were packed.

I believe we can claim some money back from this on our monthly travelcard right?
The lazy buggers, why they striking 3 days in a row?

As I recall you get a pro-rata rebate for the days lost. so If you have a monthly ticket you get 1/30 of the price of the ticket back (they use a 30/360 date basis) which is crap if you use it only to get to work, as it doesn't count weekends. So you lose 2/7 of the price of the days you lost. That's not allowing for the hassle, discomfort, loss of pay, etc.

    Re: Tube Strikes

I hate the bloody rip off prices and crap services that the tube system offers. It is fairly good when it works, but the problem is that there isnt a single day when it all works as it meant to.

I have taken three days off work because of this. I could have possibly made it in if I needed to, but considering it already takes me 1:45 to 2 hrs to get to work, I am not interested in the possibility of it taking longer.

Apparently the mayor and the people in charge of these lot have already acceded to all their demands. Yet they want to **** everyone over for three whole days. Waste of my bloody weekly travelcard which I got last week.

    Re: Tube Strikes

This is why Pay as you go oyster comes in handy... I don't get a travelcard as it works out cheaper to do it PAYG. (i've got a hour and a half commute each way too, it's gonna make it hell.)

Plus, if you are sick (like me) or the tubes aren't working, then you're not paying for it!

I'm not looking forward to going in tomorrow or thursday, depending how i feel
