I'll go for the luck of who you meet: I been mugged in Leeds (glass bottle to the throat), Manchester (knife wielded mad man) and in Belfast I never been so scared of a person who was just dishing out verbal abuse. But I've have great nights out in all those places - and many more...
Northern Monkeys - send up a million typewriters lets see what we can do.
indeed =) Glad your're still here!
p.s. As bad as it is here (and its definitely getting worse), I did experience worst stuff in America. I've only ever had a knife and gun pulled on me once (each), in my life, and both was in America. Both in California infact. Bad folks are everywhere and anywhere, as are the good ones I suppose.
Thanks. I hope people can get some kind of moral out of it.

Ah, seems one can swear in a jocular context if one misspells it, but not otherwise.
/shakes head
The message this must be giving to today's youth, I shudder to think....
BTW I did think about trying to argue the word was being used in a literal context but thought that was pushing it
Here, who stole my post?
I did
jocular is fine , but lets not resort to name calling please

I wasn't name calling, was I? I mean, all midlanders are troglodytes, aren't they?

Yes, yes, seems they are.

Shmunk, I wouldn't argue with Moby. Observe his high post count, with a thanked value of only 0.2%, compared to some helpful individuals' ratings of 0.32% upto even as high as 2%. Psychologically any value below 0.3% is indicative of a narcissistic personality disorder. Coupled with a staggering thank ratio of 0%, we establish anti social tendencies. This person could be a sociopath in the making. I imagine they'll strive for some position of authority.
Best to stand back & let them think they're in control while we wait for the people in white coats with the big needles & sleepy time meds.
lol when i was in manchester i thought it was great. The people didn't scare me at all. But i guess if your used to belfast.............

This is a funny thread
Thanks it's good to be here...
I think not been to been a native of Belfast made me more scared of the situation when I bumped into 'mad man'. The last thing he said was 'I'll be back to torch this place' he slowly nodded with glazed smile on his face - I truly believed him. If I had been in Leeds or Manchester I wouldn't have that bothered. I had a picture of the place purely based on the news of the last ~25 years - it had a lot of money thrown at it, it really is a nice place (o.k. there are a few interesting areas) . I'm sure if I never seen the News I wouldn't have been half as scared as I was.
