£1150 a month for mortgage on our 3 bed Semi. Overpaying it with a lump sum of about £10k each year. Want to get it paid off in next 6 years (fingers crossed)
Well mines a little confusing!
I bought a largeish 2 bed flat in Finchley (zone 4 london) with a mate from uni.
Our total mortgage is about 1800 a month. But with intrest rates how they are, offset mortgage is great. Whats confusing thou, is calculating it so that i don't end up paying off too much of my flat mates.
You can overpay only once per year with most mortgages, but offset as much as you want, the reason i recon its worth offsetting (other than making for one fun excel spreadsheet) is for the hudge benefit of the liquidity. Well worth the hassel for that imo.

Anyone spending over £1000 a month on a mortgage must have a bloody good job. My wages would just cover that sort of mortgage LOL Infact id struggle to pay half that tbh,
Let me know what you do, so I can do it! LOL
£650
I hope to make some over payments, like a few others here, but I appear to be pissing money at the moment - only had my house a couple of months.
Funkstar, I have a discounted mortgage at the moment, it is worth my while getting a ISA at the moment. I might consider an offset mortgage after my discount expires.
I would guess that wages in the North East are about 1/2 - 2/3 that of those in Central London (and house prices even less).
Also, we have 2 salaries paying our mortgage, but TBH I could just about pay it (interest only) on my own and still afford everything else - no luxuries mind...
