pah
4 days at uni were 9-5 pretty much, worked in my day off to get some money, when I wasnt at uni I was doing portfolio work....no sympathy from me
No sympathy either, my first-first year was:
Monday - 9-6 (1 hour break), Tuesdays 9-2 (no break), Wednesday 9-12 (everywhere got a half day, or no day at all), Thursdays 9-7 (1 hour break), Friday 1x9pm and 1x 5pm. In a campus in the middle of nowhere.
And our exams were always the first to start and last ones to finish.
My worst timetable at college involved a day with just a 1 hour lesson. I wouldn't have minded but there was only 1 bus in and 1 out a day at 9am and 5:30pm and they took an hour each way, meaning I spent twice as long travelling as working and had 7 & 1/2 hours to kill!
Got the timetable changed eventually though when enough people stopped coming to the oddly placed lessons and somehow ended up with a 3 day week! Bonzer!
1.21 GIGAWATTS!!!!!
Pah! I did 25 hours a week for all three terms, plus essays, lab writeups, and theses.
I used to get up in t'middle of t'night, before I'd gone to bed.......
(Thanks Evilmunky)
Eagles may soar, but weasels never get sucked into jet intakes.
Luxury!
I used to get up, middle a' night, six hours before bedtime, work down t'pit for 28 hours, fer 'alfpence a lifetime, get home and get cut in half by ma dad with t'breadknife....
But can ya tell that t'young 'uns these days?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

A 20 hour week? Sounds like heaven to me!
My weekly timetable for the last couple of months and for at least the next 6 weeks is:
Monday: Leave home at 3:30am drive to airport (usually Heathrow or Luton). Fly. Work until 8pm
Tuesday: Work 8am - 8pm
Wednesday: See Tuesday
Thursday: See Tuesday
Friday: Start work at 8am, leave the office about 7ish, drive/catch taxi to airport, catch flight home, arrive home about middnight.
20 hours a week? Boohoo.
Damn straight. It'd all relative anyway. If all your student mates are getting every other day off, or four-five day weekends, then you're right to feel hard done by.
Bet all the guys on here working 5000 hour weeks wish they were back being students....

I used to have a two hour special history subject at 9 on Mondays. This was with a lecturer who, as a friend correctly observed, could make a Viking raid seem boring. I didn't sleep at all on Sunday nights, knowing I had to get up for this bloody subject on a Monday morning. The solution was to stop going to most of them and borrowing notes from one of my studious mates (I paid him back by giving him notes from a lecturer he hated) and it worked out okay in the end. Got a 2:1 instead of a First (just missed it, apparently) but it was worth the extra time in bed.
I did a similar thing with a 'modern' history subject we had to cover (18th century, I'm a medievalist!) so you can miss stuff and with a bit of book work claw it back again. YMMV, of course.
As of yesturday im effectivly working 6 days a week
My I.T course in Basingstoke is 9-5 monday-friday
Then still working at waitrose 8-5 on sundays!
So 6 days a week but only getting paid for 1! Only consolation is that the course is only for 6 months then after that I can get a proper job.
I work seven days a week....wake up, get kids ready, do school run, come back, web dev/admin/logistics at home till 11.30, 12-6 at the shop with a 30 min break to pick up son from school, back home, dinner, spend time with kids then put them to bed, then more web dev/admin/logistics until about 9 or ten, watch tv for a bit with the wife, go to bed.
Saturday is 10-5 at the shop, any other time spent with the kids & wife.
Sunday is 12-4 at the shop, any other time with kids & wife.
Plus, just been accepted to start an MBA next week, part time, two years course.....£13,000 investment means I kinda have to work hard....wonder when I'm going to find the time
