He's 17!! I'd heard about the anarchists cookbook was 17, and if I'd been able to get hold of a copy, I'd have had one too.

OK, terrorist or not, it made me laugh to think that it wasn't conceivable he had it for any other reason. I bet 3/4 of the people in Hexus would like a copy (if they don't already have one).

My mate had a copy at school (age of 14/15). He made a smoke bomb and we set it off in the woods next to school one lunchtime. It was rubbish.

I have a copy of the Anarchist's Cookbook on my main PC. I may even put it on one of my websites.

I used to make 'fireworks' with a friend in Abu Dhabi using the AC recipes. We once made a firework using an aluminum tube containing over the counter HE and detonated by wire and a 9 volt battery. Because we expected it to make a fair bang we attached it to a kite and flew it out over the Gulf to let it off. The bang was so loud, even from about 50 metres away, that we shook, like when you are standing in front of the speakers at an Iron Maiden concert. Great fun, but don't try this at home.

Well the news story doesn't actually mention the Anarchists cookbook tho does it Sounds like it was a 'real' training manual as opposed to an outdates one from the 1970s (albeit constantly updated unofficially).

Its a really interesting book/collection of instructions though, including gems like making TNT, hot wiring [old] cars, lock picking, sniper trainingand of course - phone phreaking. (un?)Luckily most of it is so out of date now that its not useful - particularly the 'fun' stuff like phone phreaking..some of it will still work in the deep south of the USA where they havn't modernised the phone system but for the rest of the UK/USA its pretty useless.

You can easily see why the gov would be nervious about someone having a copy though, as TNT is pretty easy to make, as are some of the other more volitile explosives/chemicals it tells you how to make..BTW its pretty easy to find - just google and its there, for free.

Yeah. It always bothers me that people get so anal-retentive about this sort of information. Any idiot kind find it in their local library, or pretty much anywhere on the Interweb. I suppose it would be better if anyone couldn't, but it would probably be better if Tony Blair were nailed to a door; we just have to get on with what we have.

The only thing that would be really bad would be if someone were to give out the recipe for Nitroglycerine with a deliberate error in it. It's very easy to blow your hands off with that stuff, and with NI3, which is even easier to make and even less stable.
