Noticed this last week when i ordered a mates hdd from them, ridiculous imo especially the saturday delivery, i know not many companies deliver on a saturday but £25 is just stupid.

Like Agent they used to be my main supplier, shall be moving towards komplett now though especially since they Dropped they're postage charges a while back.

    It's a pity really.
E-buyer used to have a shabby delivery service a while back, you ordered and it came a few days later if you were lucky. Then they introduced the £1-2 charge for next day delivery and the £1-2 saving for 5 day delivery, everything was fine. Sometimes 3 day delviery was with you next day!
Over the last 3 months it's just got steadily worse with this final insult...blah, blah.

At least the packaging got better, they no longer send out a flimsey cardboard box with a postage stamp size piece of tape holding it together.

Well, firstly they won't let me cancel it even though I only ordered it like 2 hours ago, and secondly, it doesn't seem to be any cheaper (and the Super Express one has dissapeared alltogether).

You should have gone to Kustom, then none of you would have been making these comments or complaints!

It actually amazes me that you guys seem generally to ignore Kustom when there is one over-riding feature about them that makes them stand out -

In nearly three years of selling on the web do you know how many people have a tale of woe about their dealings with Kustom? Do you know how many people have even had a protracted disagreement with them?

Absolutely NONE, no one, zilch, zero, nada...

yet the number of times I've seen people mump about one e-retailer and say they are going to use "xyz" in future - and "xyz" turns out to be a retailer that other people have had nightmares with! - you couldn't make it up!

Sure if they don't sell what you are looking for, OK - but have you ever e-mailed them to ask then if they can do it?

I've been buying computer kit for about 14 years, both personal and corporate, from just about every company in the land and Kustom are one of the few that have the absolutely correct approach towards customers. There are others but I'm quite happy to spend £20 more on a £300 bill for the guaranteed service I'll get - and sometimes I'm not even paying more.

Look at the Hexus guide. Search the reviews to see how many negative nightmares a company has. If the top four or five with little or no negative feedback can supply your requirements then you'll never have a nightmare again!

It could also be down to the fact I have never heard of them and no-one I know has every heard of them either. Infact, before now, I have never seen anyone mention them at any point ever...

KustomPC's are very good, in fact excellent in providing customer service and general sales service.

Anyone who hasn't heard of them check out the Retailers list :
    http://forums.hexus.net/showthread.php?t=126

KustomPC are very competative on certain items and have a reasonable stock range. I'll happily use them.

I'll also happily use others like Aria.

But e-buyer have one of the largest ranges of kit, in my experience.

I started this thread to specifically highlight the fact that e-buyer have put their price up again and this time they've done it by a huge margin even pushed normal delivery up by one day.

Enverex, you haven't been looking at the Hexus retailers ratings then?

You don't ever visit Bit-Tech which named them retailer of the year?

You don't ever visit the Romulus-2 web site which rates all sorts of companies including internet PC sellers?

You're in for a pleasant surprise then

I don't use Hexus RR ir Romulus and I don't visit Bit-Tech, so no, I haven't seen them before. Besides, they don't have a decent selection of memory, so I couldn't have ordered from them anyway.

I can't even use Next Day Priority service today :-) and that would be £10 extra to get it on Tuesday even if I could.

    You only ever buy memory..?

Yes they don't always have huge ranges of choices in every category but what they have is usually very good. I suspect that RAM choice will increase over the coming months but you make a fair point on a specific component. What about the rest?

Take for example, hard drives. They don't have an exhaustive list but one wouldn't be making a mistake choosing from the ones they have. They were one of the first shops to have the 160Gb Samsung SATA drive for example when people were trawling the net looking for them.

They don't advertise iiyama TFT monitors but when I got my 4821, they got it, at the time, quicker, and cheaper than anybody else.

But most of all, read the Ratings forum on their forum site and don't look at the complimentary posts, look for the complaints. Very ilustrative.

Actually I did look at a few other things like the Processor I have just bought and the HD too, and it would be cheaper to buy them from Dabs or Komplett (which is where I bought them from) (£15-25 saving).

Yep, you're right there, others can be significantly cheaper - at times. But I have seen times when Kustom have been cheaper for P4's than either Komplett or DABS but that can't be the whole picture. - Two examples, when I bought my 3GHz CPU, Kustom were cheaper than DABS and Komplett but not some others - that didn't matter, I wouldn't buy from those others anyway, (no names). Two weeks later, both DABS and Komplett were cheaper than Kustom but how do they handle returns in comparison with Kustom?

I bought a Logitech cordless desktop set from DABS because they were £12 cheaper than Kustom at the time. Eight months later the keyboard went belly up and I did an RMA to DABS. Their web site states quite clearly and up-front, "six weeks to process faulty equipment" and it took six weeks to get a new one. Because it was a set, I had to return the mouse as well so for six weeks I had to buy a cheap keyboard and mouse until my own kit came back. Total cost of my £12 saving - £4.50 to return my kit, £10.50 for the cheap replacements" But, what the hell, it was only a keyboard - but what if it was a motherboard - no computer for SIX weeks!

Bought a motherboard from Kustom, it went belly up after three days. A courier picked it up from my office and I had a new board delivered two days later. Additional cost to me - nothing.

You cannot compare Kustom's service with that of DABS, Komplett, E-Buyer, Overclockers, Scan, and many others and, when it realy goes wrong, you cannot put a price on it.
