The red car is hers. What's really annoying is she can't be bothered driving a few yards further forward into one of her two very wide driveways... Fuel doesn't cost that much. The blue arrow is our car, basically showing the direction. It actually reverses out. The car get's 'swung' round as it turns, and the bumper hits the green cross.

    Re: Ignorant neighbours

Wow, thats almost identical to where my mum lives too. And sometimes someone does park their car opposite. Luckily we can drive over the grass if that happens, but its not ideal.

Anyway, my general philosophy with this kind of thing is to just explain to them that its hard to get out. If there was no alternative for where she can park, then its just something you would have to both deal with. But seeing as she can park further forward, I would ask her to do that. Any reasonable person would do that. If she doesn't, ask her why she isn't doing it, and then give her another chance. If she still continues to do it, ask her one last time, and explain to her that if she doesn't start leaving you room from now on, you will take legal action. If she does it yet again, then there are all kinds of things you can do. Calling the council etc.

Nothing beats a bit of the ultra violence or a nice glass of cold milk.

Buy a £250 old car and repeatedly ram it at high speed against hers (and herself and her 3 small children if possible) until there is little or nothing left. Drive away and burn the vehicle.

Alternatively - get your mum to learn to reverse her car into the driveway and drive out forwards. If this is too hard to learn then pour large quantities of petrol through their letter box and set fire to it destroying her, her children and the tacky uncleaned Mongolian rug that was left to her in her mother's will, the one that they were planning to take to the Antiques Roadshow in December that they think will make £100,000 but infact is worth less than £10 and will make David Dickinson cry.

    Re: Ignorant neighbours

If you have a dropped kerb by that driveway, I think it's still an offense to park on the other side of the street to it as well. Best thing to do is to check with your local police department, there's normally a PCSO or Community Support Officer who will take the time to listen to stuff like this.

Definately do NOT resort to criminal damage or worse as other people here are stupidly suggesting (or posting in a poor attempt at humour)

I dont... it would be impossible to park anywhere on my parents road if that where the case

    Re: Ignorant neighbours

    hello,

Thankyou so much everyone for your input (serious or not serious ).

Basically, there is no reason for her to park there, she has two incredibly wide driveways, she could also park around the 'bend', right infront of her house. She received complaint after complaint, but she still doesn't want to move.

We've written a letter explaining what has happened, and basically, telling her not to do it again (in a polite sort of way). She's not very intelligent, and so I doubt she'll understand much of it, it'll probably just scare her into not doing it again.

I'll post to say what happens.

    Re: Ignorant neighbours

Have you tried speaking to her about it and explaining the situation? It may be that if she physically sees the problem she is causing and you chat about it she may understand your reasons a bit better. Perhaps she just can't be bothered to read a letter! If you speak to her face to face in a chatty friendly "do you mind..." kind of way, I would have thought she may feel a little guilty about parking there in future.
(If you have already done that then... no idea... some people are just too ignorant for words!! )

Thats exactly what I thought too. Be nice and take her outside and show her the problem. If you've tried that and she still doesn't do anything to help, then balls to her. I'd call the police, the council, the FBI, british embassy, pizza hut, osama bin laden, and the A team.

Are you me? Am I you? Tyler is that you?

The exact same thing happens with us. What makes it worse is we have a (relatively) massive estate car! It's taken a while to get used to - some days their car is further forwards so moving our car is easier, and recently it's been okay, but our narrow driveway doesn't help either. I think our neighbours just forget but most of the time they seem to try and not park directly opposite our drive.

    Re: Ignorant neighbours

Just do what I did the last time someone parked across my drive. Was telling the council for ages about the problems with the parking in the street as there is a school at the end of it. All the parents picking up their kids park everywhere and anywhere and across the drives, council did nowt so I took it upon myself to clear my drive when I couldn't get in.

Last time this happened to me I physically jacked the car up at the rear on a trolley jack and rolled the car down the street and dumped it in the middle of the road. Its funny how quick people moan when you've moved their car, but they don't park across my drive anymore.
