Re: Dave......Dave.....who the hell is Dave?

Just seems to be a load of BBC repeats. I've not seen one non-original show on there yet, and it's hard to name one that's non-BBC, which means having to sit through adverts that weren't there the first time round. Red dwarf just isn't the same with a load of advertisements rammed down your throat half way through.

As to why they named it Dave: it's seems obvious to me that they did it so we'd remember it. It's why this thread was created wasn't it? Better than "generic channel 74" or something...

It started with just UK Gold didn't it? Then became UKTV Gold and just sort of balooned from there.

With a name like UK Gold you imagine repeats are going to be it's game.

Most of the programs were fantastic when they were first on. Red dwarf, Top Gear, QI. All classics but they are still repeats, they aren't even starting from series 1 and running sequentially.

The name is a bit stupid and seeing it written on the top left corner of the screen confused me when I first watched.

Re: Dave......Dave.....who the hell is Dave?

Iam actually happy with the switch. Dave has lots of good repeats... I am quite happy NOT to have so called "original" programming as most of it is crap these days anyway. The only good new comedies you get are on BBC2/3 or Channel 4 anyway, (That's if you don't have Sky!).

UKTV History was only repeats aswell, and I had seen everything they are showing again now anyway....David Attenborough, Coast, etc.etc..

Generic channel 74 would be a great name, it stands out.

We'd all be - lolz they called it generic channel 74, its clever, because by calling it that, its memorable, and not at all generic. They rulez.

    A chance missed.
