    Re: hmm i wonder

Does it have to be a full blown speaker, or just anything that makes a sound (buzzer)?

Ahh... now I understand what that other thread was all about

    What about these:

    Maplin > Piezo Transducers

Or is that what you've already discounted as too big?

If so, I'd have a look through an RS components (or similar) catalogue.

    Ventcroft - 24 Mini Sounder
Is the best I've found, but it doesn't state it's dimensions.

Even "mini" buzzers are relatively huge compared to the handle of a teaspoon. Could you flare the top of the teaspoon to house the buzzer or would it look too much like something from mothercare... I want these ones

    Re: hmm i wonder

I reckon you could get a reed relay to buzz pretty loudly - it would certainly be sufficient for someone to feel. Plus they are small and pretty linear in shape.

Good idea, you'd have to squeeze a coil in there next to it, but it'd long and thin, so much easier to hide in a teaspoon.

Twiglet, what type of batteries are you going to use?

Edit: What's more, a rapidly switching reed relay might have enough momentum to make the whole spoon rattle/buzz against the porcelain of the mug.

Surely you could just go for a bulbus tip?

It would make it easyer to hold, and they're blind so they're not going to think it looks ugly (and all prototypes have a habbit of fealing nasty).
