It's Incredible, It Looks Like an Atomic Bomb

Sky news just hit a new low.

I'll post my pictures of the fire from mayfair later

Okay, there is a fire in london apparently, a big fire from black well DLR station... Its probably just a big fire looking at the smoke. (and i can see it clearly from miles away).

    edit: clarify.

Sky news has hit a new all time low in my mind. The quote of the analysist they had on the phone "It's Incredible, It Looks Like an Atomic Bomb" made the whole floor burst out with laughter!

Maybe they were referring to The Gerkin and hadn't noticed the fire at all...

Re: It's Incredible, It Looks Like an Atomic Bomb

    BBC NEWS | The Editors

Just reading about the editor's justification of the huge amount of coverage. Interesting that they maintain that should the fire have occured outside of the capital, using Newcastle as an example, they would have covered it in the same way, if the media had been available.

What a load of bollocks. It might have featured at some point during the day, but no way it would have received the same amount of coverage.

Although given the number of people in London, the fact that's it's the capital, as well as the financial and cultural aspects, I still don't get why people outside of London complain so much about the amount of attention London gets. Considering what a dive much of the rest of the country is, I'd say it was justified.

Of course there would. Sunderland would be the capital of the north east....

Anyway I doubt the rest of the country is reeling at a disused warehouse in London smouldering a bit.

Re: It's Incredible, It Looks Like an Atomic Bomb

Nope, that was why they where making such a big deal out of it, hence the 'analysist' who claimed it looked like an atomic bomb.... awsome.

Fact is, that you could raise sounderland and newcastle to the ground, it would probably have less of an implication to the nation as the leveling of canary warf area.

Its harsh, but in these things its not the human cost that has the direct effect, if for a second that was the important cost, there would be FAR fewer people dieing in africa etc.

Must of been an extremely slow news day, but I'm sure it kept people glued to the news channels as lets face it, people like looking at fires.

Considering 99.9% of the country's offices are located in Canary Wharf, that's hardly surprising... the area around Peckham on the other hand....
