    Vince Cable FTW

It seems a Lib Dem has actually said summat funny. Not sure if this has ever happened before, so it might be a world first.

PMQs today, Cable said 'The House has noticed the Prime Minister’s remarkable transformation in the past few weeks from Stalin to Mr. Bean'

Cue much lollyrollage from the house.

Since Brown was given the top job, without being voted in by the British people, he has lurched from one disaster to another, stoping only for a few cock-ups, a farce, and several blunders.

Who would still vote for this shower? Its beyond a joke.

Losing the personal details of 25 million people is one of the highlights of this Labour government so far.

Anyone who would still vote Labour after all this is either mentally ill or bumming the chief whip.

Show yourselves. I want people who are still going to vote Labour at the next election to post, and tell us why.

Don't be shy, we wont judge you.

Surely you have to now vote Tory, Lib Dem or a protest vote. I'd sooner vote for the BNP or Islamic Jihad now than Labour.

How doesn't the system work? What do you suggest it is changed to?

If you think New Labour are a socialist party, I'm sorry to have to tell you that you have no idea what socialism is.

Anyway, Vince is the dude. It's a real shame he's not running for the leadership of the Lib Dems if you ask me.

    Cough, splutter.

What socialists? Where? Blair et.al. might be a lot of things, but socialist?

It's even a bit of a push to describe Brown like that, though his principles are more socialist than Blair, I'm sure. Don't forget that the (powerless) socialist element of New Labour referred to Blair as "that Tory".

Well to answer the first question, the governement doesn't really appear to be reflecting the will of the people. The main point of a democratic system is to provide representation for any citizen of the country who needs it. However, our MP's can be quite bad at actually doing that, some go as far as to not bother responding to letters from their constituients and claim massively inflated expenses.

As to what to replace it with, well I for one am enamoured with the idea of a system based on merit, where our leaders within things like finance, law & order, education etc are tested and promoted based on how capable they are to perform the job.

I was going to say the country has been run by a man who has more in common with conservative thinking than socialist ideology. Some have even said that the Labour party are more right wing than the Conservatives.

The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter
Or in this case, a one line post

    Re: Vince Cable FTW

People are mad if they think the Tories would be any better, in fact, the next time it'd be worse as there's nothing much left to privatise once the coffers ran dry..

TBH, they're all sodding useless, and as much as I'd like to see if the Lib-Dem's could do anything different, they don't really have anyone strong enough to lead them forward, and I'm not sure if they have the policies either.

It's the same damned boom/bust cycle that we seem to get suckered into every time
