Angry UPS, how do I hate thee...!

    UPS, what a bunch of...

We've got a number of HP 735 digital cameras in service; good little cameras, cheap and the quality's excellent. One malfunctioned, and was still under warranty. Phoned HP, "no problem, we'll have one with you on Friday". Package arrives and is signed for in reception by one of the receptionists. I get it dropped on my desk, and it feels a little, well, light. The cameras aren't heavy though, so I reckon it could be just me. I open one end, take the cardboard insert out - no camera inside. Phone HP, who say "take it up with UPS". In the course of the call, I note that the other end of the box has been ripped open and re-stuck. I phone UPS, explain the situation (i.e. some thieving sod has nicked our camera while it was in transit with UPS) and am told that someone will talk to me about it on Monday! . The probability is that one of their employees has stolen our camera, but their "loss control officer" won't contact me for 4 days. So much for good business practice.

If you don't get anywhere, call a laywer, tell them they are getting sued, and you gonna get a camera. Same thing happened to a guy in Greece, he settled things with a lawyer.

As has been said before, do everything you can to resolve the issue first, then, and only then, start looking to make it a legal issue.

When I was having trouble with Overclockers UK, it was suggested that I do everything from call the police, to contact trading standards, get a lawyer, tell Watchdog, call the UN, etc, etc.

Try eveything else first, then if you are getting nowhere, look for other options. Its the better way to do things, more often than not.

Oh, absolutely, I'm just annoyed that given it looks like one of their parcel monkeys pinched said camera, their response appears a little...lackadaisical

Indeed; the utter lack of PR that some companies have, can be annoying; just sort it out, get your money back, never use said company again, and give your money to someone else.

Perhaps not quite as easy to do with UPS though...

    Good luck with it, anyway.
