our post office management system is crap - nothing to do with individual postman or where they are from.

I think the fact that a postie can't put letters for number 7 through the letter box in number 7's door is indicative of the individual, not necessarily the management system.

yes, in your case, your postie is missing some brain cells.

but side note - it can't be that hard, i doubt the postie is that dumb. most of those dabbawala are so lowly educated, they are illiterate. management should be able to fix this but they don't - there is something wrong with the system

Hey... I live at number 7 as well

Maybe thats why they are confused

Saying that I expect it's got more to do with the cost-cutting exercises that Adam Crozier (ex F.A - Football Association) is doing to save royal mail bundles of bags of cash which is probably affecting staff performances and staff morale.

I can see how that could cause confusion

I'm sure it is down to cost cutting exercises. Good choice of words too, cost cutting rather than cost saving. The problem is that the service is so appaulingly bad that people are losing (lost?) confidence in it and are willing there to be a viable alternative. I know I am.

    It could be worse ?.

Our postie has tourets, he keeps shouting 'cnut !' at the top of his voice, and one morning when my wife walked past him he shouted out 'sex !' which made her laugh (he's a realy nice bloke).

That could actually be quite amusing.

I suppose it could be worse, but it's turning into a daily thing now. I remeber when Parcel Force delierved one of my sisters packages to an address about 200 yards away. I'm sure that driver was Polish.

    Re: Our Postie is useless

I do understand how frustrated you are though as around Christmas I had to deal with some Post Office incompetance

I bought a quad lnb off of eBay to upgrade my Sky dish, bought cable and connectors etc elsewhere and they all turned up on time. My wife was out when the postie came so a card was left, in the end I had to try five times (once a day) to collect the lnb from them !.

The first four times the bloke behind the counter said we'll take your number, have a chat with the guy who tried to deliver it, and call you back, of course they never did !.

On the last time I went in his manager was there (he stated that he was after I politely started to get pissed off), a light bulb goes off in the managers head and he states that maybe the parcel was put in the wrong area out the back with the wrong date on it. Off he goes and less than a minute later I have my lnb !.

From what I've seen recently it looks like there's a growing minority of Post Office staff who just don't give a **** ?.

oh boy do i agree - still fuming that the PO closed 3 out of 3 of our sub-post offices last year whilst claiming we had perfectly adequate facilities locally (ie the main PO, moved from its proper building & now poked into the corner of a supermarket & a bus ride away, no help at all to the local oldies etc) & then they put on those ludicrous People's Post Office ads! With a nice little traditional Po looking remarkably like the ones we used to have....
best postie story i heard over xmas off a neighbour, who asked our postie about a letter wrongly delivered to their house twice - "just rip it up that's what i'd do" was the advice...

And here in lies my argument from earlier, what if someone did rip up the post that was delierved to someone else that was meant to come to me and that post had been a letter stating I had an interview for a job.

Thats the worst bit of advice I think a Postie has ever given.

The people down the road call our Postie a slug.

I wasn't really serious - I live in t'country where there's loads of portugese and polish workers and if anything they've brought a lot of money to the local economy. My posty is useless though

    Re: Our Postie is useless

I've just had my normal Monday morning chat with the neighbours - we've given each other the post that was incorrectly put through our doors.

Today my post (number 7) ended up going into number 5 and number 6.

I fail to understand how the postie can be so utterly incompetent.

To be honest, it's a bit of both. But still he is a nice guy.

It's weird, and I'm not complaining now, but since I created this thread, the Postie has been giving us the right post !!
