    Rant - Chain Emails

Is there something about a PC which causes normal intelligent, rational people to lose any common sense or brains?

I have had an email from one of my Uni mates that has been forwarded about 6 times and contains about 400 email addresses.

All the pillocks use Carbon Copy instead of blind so once it hits a spammer, great he has hundreds of working known email addresses.

Come on it takes 2 mins to either:

    A) Dont forward the stupid email

    B) Use Blind Carbon Copy if you have some silly urge to

Why cant Hotmail and Yahoo as that what most of these people are using default to a blind setting and make the user select a normal carbon copy.

And what kind of idiots fall for the emails, this one came through in pink bold size 72 text with rubbish like this:

This was on the 9:00 o'clock news the other night and this works

THIS TOOK TWO PAGES OF THE TUESDAY USA TODAY - IT IS FOR REAL

PLEEEEEEASE READ!!!! it was on the news!

This thing is for real. Rest assured AOL and Intel will follow through with their promises for fear of facing a multimillion-dollar class action suit similar to the one filed by PepsiCo against General Electric not too long ago.

Dear Friends; Please do not take this for a junk letter. Bill Gates sharing his fortune. If you ignore this, You will repent later. Microsoft and AOL are now the largest Internet companies and in an effort to make sure that Internet Explorer remains the most widely used program, Microsoft and AOL are running an e-mail beta test.

When you forward this e-mail to friends, Microsoft can and will track it (If you are a Microsoft Windows user)? For a two weeks time period.

For every person that you forward this e-mail to, Microsoft will pay you $245.00 For every person that you sent it to that forwards it on, Microsoft will pay you $243.00 and ! for every third person that receives it, You will be paid $241.00. Within two weeks, Microsoft will contact you for your address and then send you a check.

    Regards

Charles S Bailey General Manager Field Operations
    1-800-842-2332 Ext. 1085 or 904-1085 or RNX
    292-108 5

I thought this was a scam myself, But two weeks after receiving this e-mail and forwarding it on. Microsoft contacted me for my address and within days, I receive a check for $24, 800.00 You need to respond before the beta testing is over. If anyone can afford this, Bill gates is the man.

It's all marketing expense to him. Please forward this to as many people as possible. You are bound to get at least $10, 000.00. We're not going to help them out with their e-mail beta test without getting a little something for our time. My brother's girlfriend got in on this a few months ago. When I went to visit him for the Baylor /UT game. She showed me her check. It was for the sum of $4, 324.44 and was stamped 'Paid in full'

Like I said before, I know the law, and this is for real.

Intel and AOL are now discussing a merger which would make them the largest Internet company and in an effort make sure that AOL remains the most widely used program, Intel and AOL are running an e-mail beta test.

When you forward this e-mail to friends, Intel can and will track it ( if you are a Microsoft Windows user) for a two week time period.

Try it; What have you got to lose!

What's even more annoying is that they're basically forwarding a phising attempt, because I bet if you ring the numbers someone takes down all your details, including your bank details...

    Re: Rant - Chain Emails

meh, they always annoy me & 99% of them come to my inbox via females. The whole "forward this to 10 friends & good fortune will be instantaneous", or "Microsoft/Yahoo/Whoever are tracking this mail & will give money to charity", or "this child is dying of cancer", "someone has sent you an e-card from viralphishingyounumptie.com, or those stupid poems with pictures of fluffy animals....
    STOP!

    Re: Rant - Chain Emails

    "via females" too true

My wife always gets txts from her friends regarding "National My Best Friend Day" or some such tosh, and urging her to forward it to everyone in her contact list (and back to the sender) lest she be met with some terrible misfortune.

The funny thing is she gets them from self absorbed people who actually probably don't give two hoots about her (at least that's the way I read their 'face to face' behaviour).

    Re: Rant - Chain Emails

A decent chain letter as opposed to normal chain letters/pyramid schemes, this one costs nothing, and you can only win. Simply send this e-mail to 9 of your mates.

    INSTRUCTIONS:

Anaesthetize your wife, put her in a large carton, (don't forget some ventilation holes), and send it to the person who is at the top of your list. Soon, your name will be at the top of the list, and you will receive 823,542 women through the post.

Statistically, among those women, will be at least: 0.5 Miss Worlds, 2.5 Models, 463 Wild nymphos, 3,234 Good-looking nymphos, 20,198 Who enjoy multiple orgasms, 40,198 Bi-sexual women.

In total, that is 64,294 women who are simply hornier, less inhibited, and tastier than the grumpy old bag you posted off. And, best of all, your original package is guaranteed not to be one of those that come back to you.

DO NOT BREAK THIS CHAIN LETTER. One bloke for example who sent the letter to only 5 instead of 9 of his friends got his original bird back, still in the old dressing gown he sent her off in, with the same old migraine attack, and the accusatorial expression on her face. On the same day, the international supermodel he'd been living with since he sent off his old girlfriend moved out to live with his best friend (to whom he had not sent the chain letter).

While I am sending this letter, the bloke that is in 6th place above me has already received 837 women and is lying in hospital suffering from exhaustion. Outside his ward are 452 more packages.

    YOU MUST BELIEVE THIS E-MAIL.

This is a unique opportunity to achieve a totally satisfying sex life. No expensive meals out, no lengthy conversations about trivialities (that only interest women). No obligations, no grumpy mother-in-law, and no unpleasant surprises like marriage or engagement. Do not hesitate........send this letter today to 9 of your best friends.

PS. - Even when you have no girlfriend, you can send your vacuum cleaner; one of the other women that arrives will know how to use it.

PPS. - This letter can also be copied to women you know so that they can prepare themselves for the great adventure that they may soon undertake.

    Re: Rant - Chain Emails

Hello, my name is Anon Amos III and I suffer from the guilt of not forwarding 50 billion f'ng chain letters sent to me by people who actually believe that if you send them on, a poor 6-year-old girl in Arkansas with a breast on her forehead will be able to raise enough money to have it removed before her redneck parents sell her to a traveling freak show.

Do you honestly believe that Bill Gates is going to give you, and everyone to whom you send "his" email, $1000?

    How stupid are we?

"Ooooh, looky here! If I scroll down this page and make a wish, I'll get laid by a model I just happen to run into the next day!"

    What a bunch of bullshoot!

Maybe the evil chain letter leprechauns will come into my house and sodomize me in my sleep for not continuing a chain letter that was started by Peter in 5 AD and brought to this country by midget pilgrims on the Mayflower.

    Fek 'em.

If you're going to forward something, at least send me something mildly amusing. I've seen all the "send this to 10 of your closest friends, and this poor, wretched excuse for a human being will somehow receive a nickel from some omniscient being" forwards about 90 times.

    I don't f'ing care.

Show a little intelligence and think about what you're actually contributing to by sending out these forwards. Chances are, it's our own unpopularity.

The point being? If you get some chain letter that's threatening to leave you shagless or luckless for the rest of your life, delete it. If it's funny, send it on.

Don't p*s people off by making them feel guilty about a leper in Botswana with no teeth who has been tied to the ass of a dead elephant for 27 years and whose only salvation is the 5 cents per letter he'll receive if you forward this email.

Now forward this to everyone you know.

Otherwise, tomorrow morning your underwear will turn carnivorous and will consume your genitals.

    Have a nice day.

    P.S. Send me 15 bucks

    Re: Rant - Chain Emails

I had the exact same email - even down to the font size and colour - as the OP show up here in November. Which led me to send round the following:

    "Dear All,

Seems it's not just virus warning hoaxes that are popping up again; various other hoaxes are too. If you receive ANY emails asking you to forward them on to lots of people, please don't. If I may take a couple of examples that have appeared today:

    1. Bill Gates is NOT sharing his fortune with people who forward chain emails. This hoax has been doing the rounds since at least 1999. Please don't perpetuate it any more.

    2. Evan Trembley. Is not a missing kid. Is a hoax that's been in circulation since August - having been created (apparently) by young Master Trembley himself ( Missing Person: Evan Trembley - Netlore Archive ), lifting the text from an earlier hoax, who is presumably now grounded for life and will probably be sent to school somewhere with no electricity, never mind a computer. The scamp. Please don't forward this one, either."

I then added the text from the following: How to Spot an Email Hoax

...with a further injunction not to forward the damned things.

The scamp. Please don't forward this one, either.

FORWARD THIS TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW OR THEY MAY BE TRICKED!!!"
