    Question In Trouble Again

    Please,
    Can Hexus Admin,

Explain to the forum why they have such a lack of a sense of humour ?.

I assumed this forum was for the benefit of all, but to me at times and I am sure that no doubt others will agree with me, the Admin appear to reign supreme, any subject they disapprove of, closed, or deleted, any comment not to there liking your in the wrong.

It appears to me that the Hexus forum should be for the Hexus admin only.

My post box appears to get cluttered up at times with mail from admin with some comment or other that I have managed to upset someone, for Heavens sake we are all supposed to be sociable with one another and everyone should be entitled to there opinion whether complimentary or not.

What a dull world it would be if everyone was the same.

    Regards.
    Harry

no offence mate, but these forums arent free. they cost the owner money. most members of hexus put back in, helping others problems and answering questions.

so if u insult somebody, then i'm afraid you get waht u deserve. admins here work bloody hard to keep the forums as good as they are. so before you have a slanging match with a member, the door is that little x shape in the top corner

Ditto what russ said, these forums cost money and if you were paying for they're up-keep would you want to login every day and see something that you dont want to read?

I've always found the admins and mods here to be some of the fairest on the net, and not the kind that will ban you for disagreeing with them or the kind that will never admit they're wrong.

"the door is that little x shape in the top corner" puts it perfectly i think if you don't like the attitudes you find here then use it.

    Russ

    Hi, Russ,

As hard as it may appear to believe,
I am not out to hassle anyone, just making a comment of what I think,
and as it appears to me.

For anyones benefit this issue was not started by me initially, but by someone else's action.

I salute the efforts made by the team for our benefit, and admit I have had some useful help from various members.
That is why I do not click the X box.

Nevertheless no one is right all and every time.

I am just a straight speaker, who does not waffle round the bush.

    Regards
    Harry

    Harry,

It really is very simple. Regardless of whether or not you feel a decision is right or worng, it is a decision made after careful and balance discussion in the Moderator's Lounge. Once a decision is reached which all those taking part in the discussion agree with, action is taken.

You may feel that this action is unjust, unfair or just plain wrong. That is your inalienable right. However, what you may innocently see as a harmless post, or an off the cuff remark not meant to offend might be taken int he wrong way, or it might just cause offence to the person it is directed at. Writing things on a forum is a lot different to saying them for real, so even the most innocent of statements could be taken the wrong way, or worse, taken harder than it was intended to be. Hence the need for moderators, who, by definition, moderate members behaviour and posts.

These forums ARE supplied as a free service by a generous owner. The moderators on these forums ALL spend time here of their own free will and do so on a purely voluntary basis. We do this because we feel that these forums are a community well worth the effort and the job is very rewarding.

We work hard to ensure the forums are a fun, involving, welcoming and inspiring place to visit. Memebrs here get on superbly with each other and we don't have to step in and settle disputes or edit posts very often at all. When a situation does arise, for the benefit of the forum as awhole, we deal with it quickly. You may consider this to be a form of censorship, elitism, clique-ness or even totalinarianism. That, as I said earlier, is your right. You may not see it this way, but all we are trying to do is maintain an affable enviroment where like minded individuals can exchange ideas and information, while keeping confrontation and antaganism down to an absolute minimum. You may feel this is suppressive, again, that is your right.

Unfortunately, your personal views and the collective views of the moderating team may clash. I'm certain that there is not a memeber on the forums who agrees 100% with every decision the moderators as a team have made. This is a sad fact of life though, that although you may not agree with us, we are always acting in the best interest of the forums as a whole. If this clashes with your opinion then it is unfortunate but at the same time unavoidable.

When this has happened in the past, many members just adjust their posts to stay within the bounds of what they have learned will be accepted here.

    This system works.

This system is the fairest I've seen and the most flexible of any forums I've ever been on. This system has created one of the most oepn, friendly and entertaining boards I've had the priviledge to work on.

I'm sorry if what we do offends your personal principles or sensibilities, but what we do makes these boards the way they are. My only suggestion to you would be to learn from the PMs and posts directed to you and post accordingly.

    Thanks.

The moderators don't get paid either but just keep your chin up and try not to upset anyone. Give a little empathy and just remember what fat mike once said.... "clams have feelings too"

There are rules Harry, and if you break them in a thread, it gets locked/deleted. Simple.

As long as you don't act out of order towards us, the community, then everyone will get along fine!

    Banned now is he?

What was it, something he did recently, or just one warning too many?

Did he mean totalitarianism? If so, it's a bit like what Saddam and Osama wanted...
