Doctor Who & the state it has become!

Iv been an avid fan of docter who for the last few seasons but this season has just left me a bit disappointed. My main gripe is with Tate, is she a side kick or is she leading these days? Watching on saturday we saw more of her & her family then we do the docter. Just scenes like her dad trapped in the car & choking on the brink of death with the docter unable to help....only to see the mum come over with an axe and pull him out without any problems. It undermines the docter & his abilities imo. Then the aliens & their weapons, they seem a bit of a let down, especially with the 'best soliders in the universe' being foiled with just a bash over the back of the head and then having their own weapon turned into a device which can ignite the whole atmoshphere, then destroy them.

    Is it just me?

Yeah, it's nowhere near as realistic as when Tom Baker was in it.

    Love it.

Best soldiers in the galaxy with a weakness just like Alpha section in Beyond Good and Evil - pure comedy.

I've least enjoyed Doctor Who recently when it's tried to be serious - Ecclestone was just so much better at it than Tennant, so I'm just glad when they give up the pretence and just make it a comedy.

Ignoring the whole issue with Ms Tate, the writing quality is quite off this series, the Doctor is being forced into a niche as a tragic character in far from subtle ways. He shouldn't annouce each episode that he's the last Time Lord, we get it, he's messed up.

But the next episode shows his daughter.....

Wouldn't he then be 1 of the 2 last Time Lords?

*sigh* that's just utterly dire writing!

Ok, yes he's always been the last one of two with the entire Master story lines streching back forever, but a daughter? That's just far silly for me...

I think it's time to celebrate a good actor though.

Bernard Cribbins may well have been the saving grace for the last couple. I know he's only in it a few moments at a time, but man he kills Catherine Tate in the acting stakes.

Apparently it was mentioned in the very first Dr. Who episode that he had a grandaughter.

And not only that but she was in a lot of the early episodes as well - Susan was her name.

Re: Doctor Who & the state it has become!

then again drwho has always been quite comical of how the dr defeats the really dangerous enimies. i didnt mind the axe to the back to knock them out. what annoyed me was the new guns that could kill them. may sound strange but the humans shouldnt of been able to create a gun that can kill them. of course the doctor knows how to defeat them and thats why i didnt mind the axe to the back thing. dont get me started on the tate thing... lol
