    Unhappy Bad Skin

This really narks me off. I keep getting dry skin on my face - well, on my cheeks mainly.

I've tried every moisturiser I can get my hands on and its not made a difference. I have been trying the sun beds the last week, but its too early to know if they have had any effect yet as they are short, low powered sessions.

The really annoying thing is that when I go abroad (which mainly consists of Ibiza), having only been there a few days my skin goes fine.

Anyone got any unusual remedies that they know of?

    Re: Bad Skin

I would highly recommend palmers Cocoa butter formula, very good for cry/damaged skin. contains vitamin E which is good for repairing the skin. This cream is so good people use it to heal the broken skin from strechmarks

Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula Lotion 250ml - ExpressChemist.co.uk - Buy Online

You can buy this in sainsburys/tesco.

    Give it a try.

    Re: Bad Skin

Agent, I get dry skin too and my sister once recommended I use Johnson's Baby Oil! Never looked back, it works a treat. Don't know if it makes a difference, but I use the green bottle with Aloe Vera in it - Tesco usually has that one on offer.

Anyhow, when you're out the shower, get some baby oil on and rub the oil right in before you've dried yourself off. Works for me, give it a go.

    Re: Bad Skin

My missus (who is fanatical about her skin) uses Sudocrem (nappy cream) for everything that's dry.

Seems to work for her but everyones skin is different.

Isn't most stuff like this just based on your diet? You might just need to eat more fruit or something.

I've been quite lucky most of my life with spots, but a while ago I started drinking this smoothie which was pomegranate and blueberry or something, so was like pure concentrated antioxidants. I started getting spots and I couldn't figure out what it was and then I realised that it's probably the drink detoxing me.

dead sea salts in shea butter or jojoba oil.

Boots sell it now, was murder to get a hold of before and i had to get my bro to send it from the states.

Anyways, works a treat, also theres a moisturiser version available, but the only stuff i have seen is scented, so i stay well away.

    Re: Bad Skin

    Hey Agent,

Have you tried Bio Oil? its quite expensive but a bottle lasts a long time

Bio Oil - stretch marks and uneven skin tone - 200ml from £15.49

Also available from boots... seems to do the trick for me for dry skin, its also good for skin tone as well. I have a few acne scars which is the main reason I decided to try it.

    Re: Bad Skin

It may be a touch of Psoriasis as it reacts well to sunlight, see your doctor for a referral to a dermatologist.
Also ask your local pharamsist for a coal tar based cream.

    Re: Bad Skin

I get that a lot too and not just around the face. It tends to get worse after eating diary products and not getting out enough for fresh air and sunlight. It probably isn't helped by the salty air and water when out kayaking but at least that does exfoliate the skin to some extend. I end up relying on a combination of sunlight, diet (limiting dairy products) and a moisturiser (Nivia as mentioned above).
My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

    Re: Bad Skin

very likely that Ibiza has something else different going on mate.

Maybe your diet changes there? Maybe it is sun (real sun, not sun bed) or maybe it's stress at home, and none on holiday.

It's not a thing to mend with creams/oils sometimes, it maybe something so solve.

Or maybe it's suncream that you use in Ibiza that you dont use here?

Maybe it's dancing in Ibiza and sweating more? Maybe your body wants to rid itself of something? God....maybe I've turned into a herbal remedy hippy!

    Re: Bad Skin

I get dry skin on my forehead after showering (I think the detergent in the shampoo/shower gel does it).

I use Nivea basic moisturising cream (in a big dark blue tub), and it works brilliantly - best of all you use very little and it's really cheap anyway!

My wife won't use it as it's 'too greasy' for her - but surely that's the whole point of using it...?
