Well, i can recommend the best product i have used: E45. Awesome is the word. I have used this for years and years and it is great at helping to moisturise dry skin. Doc recommended it to me in my early 20's and i am now 44!! Try it.

I use Nivea basic moisturising cream (in a big dark blue tub), and it works brilliantly - best of all you use very little and it's really cheap anyway!

My wife won't use it as it's 'too greasy' for her - but surely that's the whole point of using it...?

It is! I really can't stand creams as they clocg my already crappy pores, I've found that the clinique moisturisng GEL is amazing. Well worth paying the money for it and you don't have to use much.

I'm glad someone has brought a thread like this up. When I was in my teens I used to suffer with dry skin and bad acne (still get the acne now sadly and have a spot on the side of my nose the size of a smarty)

We found that tea tree oil and soap from the body shop worked a treat.

As shadowmaster said... Drink loads of water.... not always easy, I know I don't drink enough so I'm a fine one to talk, but I know it does work!
Maybe that's why your skin is better in Ibiza if it's hot, you drink more water?

Water has nothing to do with it. Elephants drink tons of water and they have very dry skins!! lol.

Elephants mostly walk around in burning sunlight, so its no surprise that they have dry skin.

Water can help the skin, but like almost all remedies, something that works for you wont necessarily work for others.

I have heard though that E45 lotions help dry skin

This really narks me off. I keep getting dry skin on my face - well, on my cheeks mainly.

I've tried every moisturiser I can get my hands on and its not made a difference. I have been trying the sun beds the last week, but its too early to know if they have had any effect yet as they are short, low powered sessions.

The really annoying thing is that when I go abroad (which mainly consists of Ibiza), having only been there a few days my skin goes fine.

Anyone got any unusual remedies that they know of?

do you use sun/SPF spray?

I use one that has moisturiser mixed in, tesco one i think, and i just spray some on my face after a shower and it sorts me out instantly

would explain why you are alright on holiday but not at home

I heard that application of AS5, followed artic TIM cleaner 10 minutes later, works wonders for the skin....

I use Johnsons baby bath when I'm in the shower.

It's worked wonders for my psoriasis on my arms and legs, to the point now that there is hardly any remaining apart from a few small patches.

I wonder if thats why my hands have been really dry this past few weeks. I have a habbit of not drinking enough proper liquids when I'm at home. Too much tea coffee and beer

E45 does the job for me. i never leave the house without it

I find E45 great for hands and other parts of you body... except your face. I use something called Eucerin for that, it's 100% better for your face IMO... I guess it's because the skin is so much thinner or something. E45 for everything else though, for sure

I have bad skin too, I drink loads of water and eat better than most... ;(

I haven't read through all of this thread so apologies if it's already been mentioned: you wash your face with a very mild, soap-free face wash to prevent skin oils being removed.
