Anybody else get heat rash? Any remedies?

In a similair vein to Agent's "Bad Skin" dilema, I seem to suffer from heat rash when it gets all sunny outside.

Haven't always had it, it started last year (I think), and I'm already getting it again this summer. I end up getting a prickly red rash, usually in my elbow creases and sometimes on the back of my hand.

It itches like crazy, and the general suggestion seems to be "go somewhere cooler".

    Are there any better solutions?

*edit* I'm not entirely sure it is heat rash, but, I get it when it's hot...so, err...it's heat rash?

i too would like to know, as i have just had a look at my hands and they are all covered in red spots, not itching yet but they're starting too.

so if anybody can give some 'free' advice, so nothing that involves buying lotions from boots. as not all of us have money!

Re: Anybody else get heat rash? Any remedies?

I'm under the impression that creams are generally a bad idea? From what I've read, they further clog up pores, hold in heat and moisture, and generally make things worse?

Gonna try some sudacrem this evening though, see if it does the trick.

    Calamine lotion?

I used to use this when I was growing up and got heat rash.

    More info here: Calamine

And drink a bit more water if possible.

try taking an antihistamine (obviously consult your doctor or pharmacist). You can get them from all supermarkets these days and are usually very safe.

Good idea. Try them, they are supposed to be good. Also, wear loose clothing. Shower regulary. Could also be linked to stress in your life?

Try taking some Piriton & get some Bach Flower rescue remedy cream from Boots.
    Works on the children.

Found that Camomile lotion is pretty good as is milk of magnesia (Put milk of magnesia in bath water). Other than that something like Clarityn.

Re: Anybody else get heat rash? Any remedies?

i get this loads too, stupid sunny weather

i've usually just let it be and it goes away soon enough, but i've been putting some after-sun stuff on the backs of my hands the last couple of days and i don't really know if it's making a difference but it stops most of the itching and feels really nice and cool when you put it on.
Apparently , all the after-sun stuff is basically just olive oil, could be wrong though

Re: Anybody else get heat rash? Any remedies?

woohoo , my red spots have gone, and all i have done is absolutely nothing whatsoever. just stayed out the sun for a day, sat on pc rooting around hexus and playing two-worlds.. that seemed to cure it..

so i think the red spots are something to do with the sun and sweaty hands...

I find a little bit of talc helps to dry up the sweat, then wash it off with some cool water.

Re: Anybody else get heat rash? Any remedies?

Thanks for all the suggestions! I tried Sudacrem the other day, but that doesn't seem to have worked. Though, I spent the weekend walking around London in hot hot weather, that definitely didn't work and the rash on my right arm has gotten worse! Was itching really bad on Sunday.

I'm gonna try Stevie Lee's remedy today, sit at the PC all day with the fan on.

Re: Anybody else get heat rash? Any remedies?

i didn't have the fan on - it broke.. along with 6 fans inside the pc.. so i have no fans..

my gaming hand did get sweaty, so i did wash it once using plain water, it got sweaty again though, couldn't be bothered washing again so i just wiped it on a jumper.. a gentle coating of turkey burger and cheese sandwiches helps aswell.

hope you get less spotty/itchy Parm, we don't want anything disatracting you from reviewing all the new tech stuff. and if this method works, then it's not just me who's got a wierd body system..

Try using some form of skin powder, worked in the past for me. I am talking about cosmestic powder like make-up or something lol. What i mean is something like Johnson&Johnson's baby powder.
