    Re: pwn3d eBay auction...

Unfortunately the number plate I wanted (F117LAY...Finlay) went for £2500 3 years ago....wouldn't have been able to afford it then.

However my surname, then F is only £300 inc taxes and all that lot....methinks I might be getting one soon (And as it's a letter 1-3 number job I can stick it on my '01 car fine, bear in mind that the Kn08 ones can only be put on a brand new car basically, as it's against hee law to make a car seem newer than it is IIRC)

That would be appropriate, wouldn't it?

A guy at a company i used to work at had W1NNT. It was only the techies who thought it was cool though.

I'm starting to think this is some kind of practical joke. Reserve of £1million etc.

I remember seeing a 'Top Tip' in Viz a couple of years ago. It said "save on the expense of a personalised registration plate by changing your name to the number you already have" The tip was sent in by Mr KDH 610P of Watford .

Really, all this number plate lark is a bag of ****e.

Can you actually buy this if you didn't have a car? How does the system work?

I'm not 100% sure on how it works when you don't have a car.

I did, however see B4 PHP on the roads, which I thought was cool.

But then you'd probably need a companion plate to go with it, that includes HTML in the name

Yeah, I'm sure you can - for up to a year I believe. I think that's what the "retention certificate is".

Either way, it looks like it's been relisted. £200 quid seems ok ?

DAV1D is currently up for about a quarter of a mill, so no chance of that any time soon.

MR (xx) Surname is available in a number of years though, so that may be the option I look at
