Royal Bank of scotland here.
The online banking is cool and as a bank I've had no problems with them (account holder for 12 years+).

WWW.MrsBurley.CO.UK now updated
I'm a First Direct guy and have to say that online banking with them is dead easy. You can do everything you could do on the phone with them on your own on the net. Paying cheques and cash in is still a case of going to the bank itself, but they have a cool dropbox in the foyer and anything left in there WILL get processed that working day as if you'd queued up for the counter.
Gotta say, FD is tops in my book... best bank I've ever had... and in the past I've done Abbey, Lloyds, Halifax, Nationwide, Barclays......
We have a Woolich Open Plan account to, which is similar to IF, but they suck at it... every time you log on you have to enter 2 dirty great sets of numbers just to view the site and there's not much you can do when you're there.
FD, by contrast ask for the ID numbers once, then after that you set up an online password and each time you go to the site it just asks you for 3 random characters from your password, dead easy. They even give you a little card with your online login numbers, so that you can log in from a PC other than your own. you still need the password, so even if you lose the card, your money is still safe.
Like McDonalds... I'm lovin' it!

i agree with dekard, FD is good, but HSBC is better (same bank?). my dad uses FD and when he transfers money to me (hsbc) its instant, which is nice
to log in on hsbc you have a internet logon code which is 12 digits, and then you have your pass which is 7 numbers, though you only need to remember 6 - and it only asks for 3 digits from it each time. i didnt get a card with mine, but i can remember the 12+6 digits (i forgot the 7th ) so i can log on anywhere if i wanted...
also when you transfer money to people it remembers there details, so if your feeling generous..
Yeah, i paid it into my HSBC bank. You get paying in slips and you can pay them into any bank. They are all supposed to accept them. U do get funny glares, but it works.
It does take longer to clear tho. Cos it has to clear with the bank you pay it into, and then they send payment to your IF bank. Effectively it nearly doubles the clearence times.
If anything, that's the worse part about it. What i do now tho, is pay it into my HSBC account, then just transfer the money over the internet. Tis 2 days quicker.
You have to phone up for the security number, then you can use it straight away without waiting for the post. However, at least you managed to join one!Originally Posted by Swafeman

Been with them for 3+ years now and they're excellent.
Paying in cheques can be done using one of the prepaid envelopes that they supply you with or via ANY Post Office, which is brilliant. You can also deposit cash via the Post Office.
All the online transaction stuff e.g. setting up standing orders, direct debits and doing direct transfers is a breeze, and their rates are really good.
Their customer service has always been brilliant whenever I've had to call/email them, and their staff appear to have a clue, which is rare these days!
cheers,
dave
Nationwide Banking all the way!!!
I dont like returned video tapes.
Signatures are stupid
yup HSBC, I have been using there internet bank for over 3 years.
Great set of tools, and it is the same bank as First Direct!
It can be a pain to setup, just go to into a branch, they will get a ID set to you and you need a password also, I just used the same as the phone banking.
Also getting things fixed with HSBC I have always found very easy and the International calls have not been that long! (but they are moving staff to India soon right??)..
If you are a student, they have some good accounts, six years intrest free overdraft you can not scoff at. My intrest free overdraft ran out this year :-( hence I actually had to start treating it like a normal bank account.
