    Question Online banking?

    Hello!!!

Does anyone out there have an online current acocunt? The reason I ask is cos I turned 18 not all that long ago and I keep getting things about new accoutns and Im looking into what there is available. For my purposes an online account would be really usefull, with Intelligent Finance or somebody. The only problem is, I can't figure out what on earth you're sposed to do if you want to pay in a cheque

    A little help?

    Cheers

They have set banks where you can pay in, for example, First Direct use HSBC. Also you can post cheques off, and I think you can pay them in at a post office for a fee.

You need to have a security pass number, ring up for one, they will ask you a series of questions. And an internet banking number that they give you. Just call the call centre and ask about it, I used to work there so I know what they do, its really easy to set you up.

So for some1 like Intelligent Finance I'd probably have to go to the Halifax then and just pay cheques in as normal?

I'm with Halifax and Woolwich and they both have options to use online banking at no extra cost. I believe Barclays do too. Wouldn't go with a online only bank as sometims it's nice to be able to go to a branch and speak to someone.

I have Intelligent Finance and HSBC, Also access to my girlfriends RBS and Abbeynational internet banking..

And out of them all, IF is the best. Good site layout, execellent service. The fact u can transfer money from a credit card to your bank account without any fees is excellent.

I had that account for about 3 years. I dont think id change it at all.

Is the IF account a current account?

The reason I keep beinging IF up is because I have an IF Savings account and it would be really usefull to have my current account there too, but I was just worried about the paying in cheques issue.

    Yeah, its a current account.

When you log in, you get access to all your "Jar's" as they call them. Loans, Credit Cards, Mortgages, Current Account and Savings.

U can transfer money between, loans, CC, current accounts and savings no problems. I havent got a mortgage with them so dont know about that.

Got an HSBC one, very nice and you can download your transactions into MS Money if you have it or Excel.

Also an ING one, which is ok although cos its a savings account you cant really do too much with it. Although its still ok
