    Re: The swiss = awesome?

Switzerland is fantastic; I've been on holiday there many times and spent two months in summer last year in Geneva.

Swiss fondue with champagnem, rosti, and racclett are some of my favourite dishes along with chateaubriand. If you've never been to Switzerland, you can find some snaps in my gallery:

    Re: The swiss = awesome?

Swiss properties are a lot more affordable than over here... especially if you want one of those nice chalet style ones as a renovation project. The swiss want new spangly apartments apparently.

Raclette = teh win, Fondue = teh win

I've fallen in love with Interlaken and now regard it as my second home (although falling out of love with Swiss motorways and swiss radio... remember to take a CD for the car!)

Toblerone is good, but Ballerone is better. Chilli and spice chocolate is the best.

Oh and Lichenstein and Switzerland have a freedom of movement agreement similar to any country in the Schengen and Uk/Ireland so it's perfectly possible to wander over the border, accidentally.

    Re: The swiss = awesome?

I went camping at Interlaken about 10 years ago and it's a very nice place. It was mid summer and it was very hot, but the lakes and rivers were absolutely freezing! However, I don't think I would like to live there, but that could be because I only went to the touristy places. The other problem with moving to Switzerland is learning up to 4 languages! Although it looked like German would be enough to get by on it's own.

Oh no, the german is easy... it's the Swiss German you gotta watch out for... the dialect changes 4 times in the space of 10km along the edge of Brienzersee. (it's cold beacuse it's got glacier melt from the Eigergletscher (glacier up by grindelwald, every few days it dumps a load of water from it down the river) in it... although I did go in last friday... wakes you up i assure you of that.)

Interlaken is touristy, but my uncle lives about 10 mins away in a little village on the edge of the lake. Perfectly placed in betweent he 2.

    Re: The swiss = awesome?

I know there's not massive lines drawn over the earth's crust... but I just wondered why the swiss military were doing exercises so close to a border as to be able to wander over it...

Although, having no military experience, this might be normal.

    Well, sort off.

    By mistake anyway.

Apparently they had to officially appologise to the Liechtenstein government for some of their troops wondering across the border while on exercise. I think it became a little embarasing when Liechtenstein said it was perfectly alright as they hadn't actually noticed in the first place
    That is freakin' hilarious!

Interlaken and Thun were fantastic, and I think this is probably one of the best shots I took on the trip...

If you're ever in Geneva you must go to Cafe de Paris, next to Gare Cornavin...

There are days I feel like flying across just for lunch...yes, I've done it before LOL!!!

I lived in Switzerland for around 8 years and I did not like fondue or raclette.

Skiing in Switzerland though = teh win.

All part of the plan... 2 houses, Summer in France, Winter in Switzerland... guess what country is next door? Germany! woot.

    I just love the country

The skiing is amazing... perfect powder when I was there in March and I've befriended the Snowboard instructor so hopefully can get some cheapy lessons!

Ah, shame we didn't know about that cafe last friday, we drove from Geneva to Interlaken.
