How come this never happened to Winnie the Pooh?

How come this never happened to Winnie the Pooh when he got a 'hunny pot' stuck on his head?

It would have saved me hours of reading inane banal Disneyfied Pooh stories to my kids, and allowed me to concentrate on sensible books like Click Clack Moo...

Thats a thoroughly depressing story, the people who live in these areas should know better than to leave containers of foodstuffs (empty or otherwise) in areas where bears can get to them.

Someone in my brothers party at Aspen left a McDonalds wrapper in a car, bear trashed the car trying to get to it, lesson learned there.

I apologise if this is a stupid question but: Why the hell didn't they just tranquilise the bear then remove the jar?

When my wife and I were camping in the Rockies for a couple of months we were always advised to lock our tooth paste in the glove box in the car 'cos the grizzlies love it apparently.

This never happen to Winnie cos he can speak and therefore was able to ask good ol' Eeyore and Tigger to lend him a paw.

would have saved me a lot of time and effort reading his terrrible books if his moronic life had been mercifully cut short... A. A. Milne would turn in his grave if he new the path his legacy had taken.

Policy I guess. Bear within x metres of habitation = shot bear. Bear outside of x metres = in forest and can't get a clear shot. Sounds like there was never a situation when the bear could have been outside of the forest but still far enough from habitation.

Efforts to tranquilise the animal failed because the bear "stayed in forested areas", he said.
... so they shot it. God bless America.

Americans. Tell them to shoot a human and they'll go on rampage, but tell them to shoot a bear and they muck it up... or take ages to actually manage to do it.
