Merkur Safety Razor
That looks interesting, I must admit.
It is a little pricey but usually quality don't come cheap.
It looks very retro, funny how an old design has a new price tag
With a manual razor
With an electric razor

I started on the Gillette Sensor Excel. Anyone remember those? They were the flagship razor from Gillette at one time, yet only had two blades.
I tried Wilkinson Sword for a bit, forgot which model. They were red, and pretty plain by today's standard.
Then I went Gillette Mach 3, but eventually decided that manual razors simply did not agree with my sensitive skin (especially the space between my upper lip and nose). It's now been used for other things.
I then went with a Philips Coolskin electric and never looked back. I was worried at first because you can never be sure whether foil or rotatory is better for you, but it turns out that rotatory worked fine on my skin.
The only problem is that the battery is pretty much dead and can barely hold a charge for a day (if that). But it's been a few years, and if I was to replace it, I would most likely go for a similar model.

based on recommendations in my huge thread on shaving ive tried few products... foil and rotary electric its fast... sort of convenient i suppose basically intended for people in a rush i suppose.
then there is manual... ive tried Gillete Mac 3, Fushion, Wilkinson Sword (new one), and lastly a King of Shaves Razor
At of them all i prefer the new Wilkinson Sword because it doesnt lie like Gillete it is a good razor and the blades are angled so do not cause pain unlike gillette.
For price/performance i would say defo King of Shaves the razor is 3 pound and comes with 2 spare blades and a pack of 4 blades is like 6 pound or something.
King Of Shaves FTW is all i can say.
I use the Gillette Fusion (Black and Orange one) with Nivea Sensitive gel!
BTW - when you need to buy replacement blades, look for the promo packs they are cheaper and you get a free new battery and shaver.....! Cheaper than buying blades
I use both, Ive got an electric Braun thingy, with a ridiculously big docking/cleaning/charging station, which gets used when I'm in a hurry or really cba to do it properly.
Otherwise Mach3 Turbo in a very manly red is the wet-shave option.
Either way every 2 days or so otherwise I just look a mess.
If I'm being lazy I get the electric shaver out for the facial hair only a wet shave does it for my head though the electric just isn't good enough for that.
Always a wet shave with a "power" razor.
Used Mach 3s, tried a Protector and didn't like it, now using Fusion Power (Phenom version). Toying with going for an old school bladed thing like the earlier pictures.
Mach3 can't get away with electric
is the last blade in the packet made of different material as it always lasts twise as long as the others ?
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
But you can get a decent electric shaver for not much more, and then you never need blades/gel.
If there was a way to cheaply try it out I would, because my main objection to wet shavers is getting through blades so quickly (mach 3 used to last 2-3 shaves at most, despite trying all these fancy shaving gels/creams/lotions to soften the hairs).
As an aside, why on earth are the Derby razor blades made in Turkey??
