That's the wonder of Woolies.

To be fair, Woolworth's has been going downhill since the 60's. Their market doesn't really exist any longer. The chain needs a makeover. The Woolworth's in Dar es Salaam is the way it should be done, less of a mountain of crap and more a reasonably-priced selection of stuff people need.

Popped into the local one on Sunday, 2nd time this year, walked out empty handed shortly after. It's not exactly an inviting place to shop and had the feel of one of those pound stores. Surprised they're still going to be honest - there isn't at lot they do which can't be found in most of our supermarkets.
I'm surprised they havent gone under yet, their customer service is c**p. I ordered something for a present in their paignton store, and after 5 weeks, it still hadnt arrived. Spoke to them and apparently a lorry driver had stolen it it then took a further 3 weeks for me to get a refund.
It needs a major improvement for me to go and shop there again.
The bigger stores are fine, the smaller ones...not so great. Like someone mentioned they have the feel of pound shops, and need total refurbs etc, with about 3 staff running around.
Woolies is a dead duck, the supermarkets finished them off
It seems like every few years there is a Woolworths rescue package or buy out put in place.
I'm always surprised they are still around.
You guys are clearly not aware that Woolworths is one of South African's top and most respected brands. It was a shock horror to see how different quality the two are.

Correct, I wasn't aware
Although going by this page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woolworths) they all appear to be completely different companies now. Much like the US and UK Safeway's being seperate too.
may i just say i feel sorry for the staff at woolies. i had to work with hilco duing the windup of out store and the "consutlant" thay sent did not have the first idea what he was doing half of the time. the new consultant is good though.
Isnt the only reason they keep going because they are the biggest seller of confectionary in the UK? or something like that anyway.
Woolies is like Whsmiths sells bits of things not very comptative prices and a bit pointless these days
Permanently confused
