To queue or not to queue?

Waiting in a store to pay this morning, one lady acting like her last brain cell had just fallen out covering three tills, while her dozy mates stood around chatting...Took her ten minutes to serve one customer, so I just walked out.

Drives me nuts. I know it's all very British - although the americans are better at it than us these days - but it just makes me want to shoot people (typically the people in front of me in the queue so I can get served faster).

Thing is that everyone just stands there, shuffling forward, eyes glazed, peacefully waiting their turn. It's not that I disagree with the premise of waiting your turn in an civilised manner, but if the establishment makes no effort to make that wait as short as possible then they don't get my business.

Re: To queue or not to queue?

I'm pretty much the same, if I'm queuing and it's just not happening, I usually leave.

But the worse ones are, when they queue is horrendous, and you HAVE to stay there. i.e. Happened to me recently at the bank, and I must of been in the Abbey queue for at least an hour. Pretty much going nuts, a bank employee was weaving in and out of the queue asking people to fill out surveys and questionnaires. One man was shouting that he came in to take out money, and most of that money would have to go on the parking ticket he would receive once he got out to his car.
