It also has a better fan / drive I believe and is a lot less likely to get the 3 red light issues.

I had my Xbox 360 Arcade for 97 quids + 20 quids for a 20GB harddrive, totaling 117 quids with 4 months of Live Gold altogether, and HDMI cable cost 4 quids.
Games aren't expensive, many of the hot one are bundled with something else for a low price.
20GB harddrive is just about enough to install 2 games and have about 300MB left for savedata. I personally think its a better idea to have the Arcade as you can bring your stuff around on the memcard.

XBOX!
PS3s cost too much.
ye but ps3 has free internet/online gaming and a blu ray player
PS3: Horrible controller, no decent games, costs far too much, looks ugly, has bluray, quiet, free online play.
360: much better feeling controller, plenty of awesome games, much better price, no bluray, doesn't look ugly (but doesn't look good either).
i'd go for the Xbox 360 though
360 has Halo Wars/Halo 3
Halo is a good reason to buy a console...
Is H3 even on PS3?
lol ye i used to love halo on first xbox, but my old xbox didnt last that long before it got a red light and mucked up, by time i pay for online membership it makes it just as expensive as ps3
and Gears of War
EDIT:
PS3 = £299?
Xbox 360 = £169 + 5 year Live Gold (£125)
same price after 5 years

And that is if you pay the mug price for it!
Its £25 for a year most places, so that is 5 years almost!
dont forget built in wifi in the ps3 and also interchangable hdds so u can put upto 500gb inside and also tha fact u can install linux out of the box!
you've been waiting hours to use that haven't you i was planning on dropping it in at some point

I'd go with the PS3 if you do most of your gaming on the pc. Its a got a decent selection of games, and should improve over the next year or so as it gains more exclusives. Then again the Xbox 360 as well as being much cheaper, is very good in terms of its current game selection and online service. So my overall advice would be just to get the one you want, you cant really go wrong with either
