    What's that newish movie-length one?

Something about Japan turning itself into a fortress, and not allowing anyone in or out for years, some people go in, and find millions of people, but no life signs - they've all turned into androids..

Can't remember the name, but there was a trailer for it doing the rounds no so long ago?

Newish to the Western World or to Japan? Some stuff takes a year or two to port over, some instantly.

Recent movie I seen was Appleseed Ex-Machina but that doesn't involve Japan, but has androids and Utopia is like a fortress... probably not that. There are a raft of movies I have yet to see. Or find.
    Any other clues Stoo?

Death Note, Ergo Proxy, Ghost in the shell (1st gig, 2nd gig, Solid state) Hell Girl, Otogi Zoshi, Appleseed, Paprika, Code Geass, Tekkonkinkreet, Vexille for starters.

But Sleepyhead is the knowledge, when it comes to Anime.

*edit* I thought Appleseed Ex Mechanica was ok. You're just an anime tart Sleepyhead

Not at all... As proven above.

I have my preferences and have kept some off my list but at the same time I have no added in the list "fighting" animes (like scryed) which I am not a massive fan of.

Any list will be biased so, if you look carefully at my list, biased towards comedy.

Oh remembered another two iconic series for me... *goes back to add to the list*

Probably due to the fact I like alot of different genres within anime. Knowing the titles of more doesn't mean my opinions hold more value, my tastes are varied; all I offer is a variety of titles that may or maynot appeal to the OP. It's a safe bet when lots of people in the thread keep recommending the same show (like Death Note or GitS;SAC/2nd Gig) but at least I give the OP the change to gamble on a slightly different title.

PS I updated my list but i'll repost here for you 0iD, if you not seen Detroit Metal City, check it out.

I dunno, I liked it enough to buy the blu-ray - I've seed the old animated appleseed, but I've not read the manga - I guess I'm sufficiently detached enough from it to enjoy it?

    ahhh Otogi Zoshi rocks

ARGH!!! The old animated Appleseed was a train wreck.

The manga (from what I remember reading) has really good stories/plot lines. A scene that made me laugh fron Ex-Machina is when Deunun (bad at spelling her name, sorry) offers her arm out to grab the falling Briarios (yes I know i spelt his name wrong but its late and I forgot to eat dinner). her arm should be torn from her body; he weighs a good few tonnes.

*sigh* I still need to watch Otogi Zoshi. Still can't stop laughing at Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei.

^ they is new stuff starting to air this month. (I can vouch Akikan and Maria being absolutely hilarious...if that type of comedy is your thing.)

TAKTAK, you will pleased to know as of this month Shikabane Hime: Kuro is starting this month too.

BSOD - What is your definition of great? What genres do you like/dislike?

I'll recommend to you the following (that have not been mentioned before):
    Lucky Star
Eureka 7 - (sky surfing mechs is just awesome)
Shakugan no Shana (series 1 and 2, avoid the movie, its a recap)
    Escaflowne (vastly underestimated)
Dual Parallel Trouble Adventure (parody of NGE, so its bad but tongue in cheek bad)
I My Me Strawberry Eggs (nothing beats a cross dressing teacher)
Tenchi Muyo GXP (a nice side story series to the Tenchi Muyo franchise - has cameos from other Pioneer produced series such as....)
    El Hazard
Last Exile (absolutely fantastic show with an amazing soundtrack)
    12 Kingdoms
    Mushishi
    Ghost hound
    Dennou Coil
    Serei no Moribito
Texhnolyze (you'll either love it or hate it by the end of ep 1)
    Claymore
    Macross/Macross Zero/Macross Plus/SDF Macross/Macross Frontier/All the movies
    Nadesico Martian Successor
Ef - A Tale of Memories & Ef - A Tale of Melodies
Iriya No Sora, UFO No Natsu
    Genshiken
    Fate/Stay Night
    NHK ni Youkoso!
    Spice and Wolf
    Saishuuheiki Kanojo
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (iof you dislike this then there is no hope for you )
    ANYTHING by Studio Ghibli
Galaxy Angels (for some amsuing comedy)
UFO Princess Warukyure/Valkyrie (for some Sci-Fi RomCom)
Irresponsible Captain Tylor (Highly amusing Sci-Fi Comedy)
    FLCL
Now and then, Here and There
Beck (I wish Mongolian Chop Squad was real )
Detroit Metal City (you will love this one 0iD)
    Elfen Lied

    (omg..i'll stop now... )

Now my fav is a show called "Kimi ga Nozomu Eien" and "Shingetsutan Tsukihime" .

Which reminds me, the people behind Shingetsutan Tsukihime, Type Moon, had a story that was the basis for the aforementioned anime...and that has been animated under "Kara no Kyoukai - Garden of Sinners"; advertised as 7 movies, there are 7 1 hour long OVAs which movie 1 and 2 are good

P.S. Sorry I am abit of an otaku and Hikkikomori...lol
SUPERB!!! A fello Otaku....I've added you on MSN, going to be bugging you shortly

Yup, I've got both "Kimi ga Nozomu Eien" and "Shingetsutan Tsukihime"; they are two of my favs as well. Of the list above, I have: Shakugan no Shana, Last Exile, Elfen Lied. I think I downloaded a bit of Now and then, Here and There, and stopped. I've got all of Negi; need to look into azumanga daiho...

    You'll like these:

which also reminds me, I got a whole heap of Gundams I plan on building. Will be starting my first build sometime after the 16th...

Ahh, thanks for the heads up If you not added them, add Moogle and TAKTAK too (I know they likes their animes too).

Ahh Gundam models. I've got, so far, HG models of Gundam Throne Einz, Zwei and Drei and built Gundam Throne Einz. DO NOT do what I did and build the fecker then realise you got to paint it! Even HG has some tiny bits to paint. Would love to save up £100-200 for a PG Gundam Model. <Just seen the pic..you even got the pink Strike Rouge. it is VERY pink inside..and is that a PG version of Zeta Gundam or Strike Gundam at the bottom there?>

This is my current army...though missing Gundam Einz and Domo-kun and er...(forgot her name from Haruhi....it's early - I am in work and I am dreading working on the 3-9 spool plasma coating again...). Here is Einz and Yuki doing the typical Haruhi pose.

If I remember more animes, I can either update my list or just msg you BSODMike (via MSN or here).

I'm actually following Danny Choo's Gundam painting guide. I'll be taking photos as I go a long of course, but all will be revealed after the 16th. I think I got enough paint to finish a couple PG models. Yes, the plain plastic looks yuck. As for the rouge Strike, I'm hoping to paint in a deep 'blood' red, rather than *pink*

Quote Originally Posted by sleepyhead View Post

(Bottom up): Very bottom is a GP01-FB Strike Gundam with the full Vernier kit. (left) MK-II MG, (right) One Year War Strike Gundam MG (might be HG, can't remember). Lightning Gundam (PG). MK-II PG. Rouge Strike (with Aile kit) PG.

While I was 'going to town' in the hobby shop, I also bought the while PG-Strike box, and the Aile Striker kit (which is sitting on top). Both are PG grade; this is a snap I took in the hobby shop,

Um, so yea, I got a quite a bit of repetition in terms of MG/PG kits. The very bottom GP01 will be kept until I've 'mastered' making a couple PGs of course. They are impossible to come across now, and cost a pretty penny as well.

I'm thinking I'll build the Skygrasper first, full PG paint job since I have two and I really don't care for them (much). Good experience on a PG kit

P.S. you need to auth my MSN, or just add me "mike@bsodmike.com"; thanks I'll add TakTak and Moogle as well

I'm at work right now so can't use MSN.

OK, you really did goto town with the Gundam models. I took one look at the Gundam Nation and Gundam Mad stands at an expo and felt the need to win the lotto to buy it all.

Oh there is also Gundam Exia in Trans-Am mode model....THAT my friend is VERY pink....and sparkly. Doesn't quite work in model as it did in the animation.
