    I notice from the pilot's bio that, as well as being a fighter pilot, he was also an experienced glider pilot. Must have come in handy when he realised that he was flying the biggest glider on the planet!

    I think the fact that he was an experienced glider pilot probably counted a lot, he would have had a lot more "feel" for what was needed.

    That last photo should have "A320 FS - Needs some TLC - one careful owner." as a caption.

    Whats interesting is how its only lost one engine, considering that landing on water at high speed is like slapping down onto concrete.

    Anyhow, if its not been posted before here is a bbc news video of the aircraft just after landing on the Hudson river with passengers evacuating.
