    A Rant.

A rant, 'cause I'm now in a rather dis-chuffed kinda' mood.

Right, I'm redoing my room, laid a new Laminate Floor last weekend, and Today/Yesterday stuff was arriving for my room (Pix will be posted when it's all done, 'cause it'll look ace!).

Anyway, I've a TV stand, TV, PC bits and Sofa on the way, everything was ordered for the TV/TV Stand and the PC Bits to arrive yesterday, and Sofa to arrive today.

Step in UPS + Home Delivery Network Ltd (and eBuyer).

I'd selected a delivery date of Thursday from eBuyer, but realised I forgot to add a TV Tuner to my order, so I added it and all of a sudden the delivery date changed to today - shame there was no mention of this when I went to add something to the order, donkeys.

But no worries, I'll get to build a PC today, yay. Not so, I got my tracking numbers off them (for UPS), checked the parcel status...it's somewhere within DHL with a Scheduled delivery date of Tuesday the 28th...what use is that when everybody is working and I've taken days off work to be in for the delivery! I don't expect I'll get a days wage from UPS as compensation..haha.

Similar story with HDNL, ordered my TV and it was dispatched on the 22nd, on a 48 hour service (confirmed with a nice chap at play.com), the tracking page shows it arrived in Aberdeen today, so will go out on Monday, may not be such a disaster, not sure if my Dad is working then or not...

Of course, I might've been able to go in to town and grab my TV (and may still be able to), but I've gotta stay in 'cause Argos are delivering my Sofa today at some time between 1200 and 1800...if it arrives early enough I'm calling HDNL and telling them I'm coming in for my TV (will a 32" LCD fit in a Pug 106?), see what they say.

As I said, rather dis-chuffed at the whole situation, can't be that difficult to not screw up deliveries, obviously it is.

/end rant...for now. It may not be the best written rant, but it serves its purpose!

    Re: A Rant.

I gave up a while ago on co-coordinating deliveries like that.

I found the best way is to only stay in for deliveries that cannot be collected. Stay in for the sofa, pick the rest up when you can.

It's a pain but I found doing it this way I didn't end up stressing out to the point of punching walls....

Nothing worse then having your best laid plans scuppered by couriers and mail order companies.

Should do, although I had to de-box our 28" CRT at the John Lewis warehouse to get it in the back of our old Ford KA...

    Re: A Rant.

Well, I've just had a call from the Argos delivery chap - he'll be here within the next hour with the Sofa, which is good.

So I called HDNL and asked if I could come in and pick up my TV and they've said thats ok, somebody is away to look it out and they'll give me a call when I can come in and I'l head in after the Sofa is dropped off.

So it's not a complete failure, just no HTPC goodness until next week

Edit: Yeah, there is plenty room in the car now that I've taken down the back seats, it'll sit in there fine I think!
