    Is it new passport time.

Never had to countersign a passport before but suddenly in the last week i've had to sign 3!

Can only assume people want to get them in before their holidays in the summer it just seems odd i went from none to a couple in one week.

I just got my new one, as did my brother, dad's partner and dad's partner's son! Got them in preparation for the summer holidays.

Actually I do, for work. But them I'm unusual like that

I actually need a passport for going offshore now, even when the platform is within the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) region and I don't actually go abroad. But then there is the possibility that I could get evacuated to a Norwegian platform in an emergency or if a chopper is diverted, so I guess it makes sense.

I also have a second passport, paid for by work, so I can send it away for travel visas while still going offshore and doing other travel.

But no, you are right, a person with a regular job does not need a passport. I don't think £72 for 10 years is that bad, passports are very cool these days. Though I was just over £100 when I got my second one and a renewal as I needed them that day and I opted for the jumbo 48 page as well

Re: Is it new passport time.

You don't need a passport to set up a bank account, but you do need a couple of forms of ID, same goes for buying or selling property because of anti money laundering laws.

Birth certificate, drivers license, utility bills, etc. all can be used as identification.
