    Question Europe Break

Hi Hexus! Basically after a bit of travel advice from you kind folk, I've actually never been in to Europe before so I have no idea (some idea, but not sure)...could any one suggest nice location, for a family break? there 4 of us wanting to go for like 5 days? Don't really spend much more than a grand.

Did anyone go any where nice recent, or plan to?

    Thanks!

    Re: Europe Break

You're going to have to flesh it out a bit - city break vs out of city resort, interests etc? I would say time of year is also a big factor (weather primarily) in choosing a location.

    Re: Europe Break

I guess a city break would be better, in terms of more things to see - defo don't want to sit on the beach for days. But then again a coastal city would be good too.

    Re: Europe Break

Barcelona is the obvious one for a decent city on the coast with plenty to see. Good first place for your first time in Europe too. ALWAYS BE AWARE OF YOUR WALLET AND BAG. Especially Barcelona, La Rambala (main tourist high street) is full of pick pockets. Never let it out of your sight there.

    Re: Europe Break

As mentioned, Barcelona is definitely nice (city and beach).

For something more relaxed, I would say perhaps Interlaken/Lucerne in Switzerland (although you would have to fly into somewhere else and catch the train there). Add Bern to that itinerary, some historical aspects in Bern, lakes and nature around Interlaken and Lucerne. More movement by public transport, so not an all-in-on stop like Barcelona.

(By the way, never felt at threat of pickpockets in Barcelona myself - Madrid however, is a different story).
