think about how much more denim they have to use to cover your sky scrapers.

That's not fair though is it really? Why should taller people have to pay more?

It does seem a bit unfair to have to pay more for being tall!

Yeah I heard about that - it is unfair paying more for clothes if you're bigger.

The current student union president at Sheffield university ran on the slogan "Tall Paul" and it appears to be the sole reason he got the position...

Student politics is not what it used to be.

At the risk of sounding like a pervert / swiss toni that's not a good thing in terms of aesthetics at least, obviously heels are bad for posture and all that but speaking as someone whose wife wears a dowdy uniform every day for work it's always nice to see a girl dressed up and making an effort

It actually depends on who you are... I don't wear heels a lot as I have I quote "completely flat feet" (not just fallen arches...) - so a lot of the time I have to wear shoes that can accommodate my orthotics. Heels are actually quite good for me as they strengthen some of the muscles that don't otherwise get used and put my foot into a position that takes the strain off my poor back.

I do wear heels to make an effort if we are going out, and it's appreciated I just make sure I stand on the bottom step

My wife also has flat feet and will shortly be pointed at this thread with me saying "See - you should wear heels all the time - they're good for you!"

More materials used, less mass production facilities (more expensive to manufacture). Allegedly, tall people earn more anyway. It may not be fair in the sense that you don't get to choose your height, but it's no more unfair than short people who may need a ladder to reach places where a taller person don't.

Or is it unfair that smaller people are subsidising the additional cost of larger people?

Why is it unfair? Its simple economics - supply and demand.

What IS unfair is how much extra often gets charged over other sizes.

    Indeed.

Perhaps the answer, with regards to trousers, is to make them ALL long and force short people to pay to have them shortened
