I'm just making a point, and I'm not talking about huge wide, specially made clothes or anything but for the most part clothes are the same price. As mentioned previously M&S got into a bit of bother over larger women's underwear - the same applies ie more material etc...
Either he used the wrong spelling of the word or he has some magical leg extending jeans
In which case, I want some
Well, I've I guess the most fair way to settle the issue of more material is to charge by weight
My girlfriend is 5', and weighs less than my dog! The ideal companion for going flying with, means I can fill the plane with more fuel
On the subject of charging for clothes by weight...what about airline tickets too? Why am I paying the same amount as the fat git next to me who's twice my weight, but has the same luggage allowance! Hurrah for the airlines who introduce a 'buy two seats if you're bigger than this' policy
I'm with Kata on this one.
I can understand one point on excess baggage, where you have excess number of items, as airports charge the airlines per item most of the time for handling. But when my mum, who is really small, was charged excess because she was a little over on one large suit case (moving down to Angola with my dad) I was a little annoyed. Expecially as there was a massive guy standing behind her is the queue going on the same flight with the same number of items. I bet he didn't get charged extra for being way too fat.
I can't see the major airlines doing this on a regular basis, but I would support a budget airline that did introduce such a policy.
That's not a bad idea. I mean, I sometime have luggages that exceeds my allowance. In fairness, I've gotten away pretty much every time, but given that I am probably 15-20kg lighter than the average traveller, I probably contribute to less load overall to bigger guys within their allowance.
I can't really see any airline do this without some negative publicity though. It's not just the obese who'll complain though but anyone of above average height is not unusually skinny.
Airline's costs are directly related to the weight of the payload they are carrying (including the self loading variety) so it's only fair. Instead of check in, they could have a weigh in.
I'm not sure the airport branches of McDonalds et all would like the idea though.
I forget which airline, it was an Eastern one I think, recently started a policy of encouraging passengers to go to the bathroom before boarding, to save weight
lets put some numbers behind this

so much so that i sadly did it myself to a businessman who was about 6ft9 and i simply did a homer and said "wow your tall" and as soon as i said that i knew it was a stupid dumb ass remark, to the point that i knew the remark from him would be the same as i would say lol
