    Question E-Book Help

    Hello Hexites -

I'm looking at getting my Dad a subscription for an E-Book site. He's away at sea for long spells and often exhausts the literary supplies on the boat. He has a laptop with a nice 17" screen so I think that some kind of subscription for a site that allows him to download texts would be a good idea for a Christmas present.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks

e-book readers are not quite there yet IMO. There isn't enough out there to warrant it really. If a reader came with wifi or the ability to link to a phone via bluetooth so you can login to say Amazon and download new books on the move, that would be ingenious.

Also if the newspapers offered it (even for a subscription cost) that would be great as well. Reduce rubbish and litter. I hate getting onto a tube late at night and I have to fudge around copies of the Lite or whatever it is.

Zinio do magazine subscriptions in electronic form IIRC, I had a few free trials a while ago, proprietary format though

It's not an e-reader I'm looking for - more a website that allows subcriptions. That way my dad can download a book (in pdf or whatever) to his laptop.

I will check out Amazon, thanks for the suggestion.
