I've just been through all the photos and I must say that I'm positively jealous. Was in Leeds for a couple years and in London for a year and NEVER saw as much snow as I just did in this thread! The last I saw as much was in Switzerland up in the Alps!
It's an annoying 30degC here in Colombo and a bit hotter in the day. Anyone want to swap?
Six more days of snow expected.
Here in Paris we have had a sprinkle, but expect to get hit by Britain's left-overs tonight. The good news is that my dog (Airedale Terrier) loves it. The bad news is that I hate it.
(Thanks Evilmunky)
Eagles may soar, but weasels never get sucked into jet intakes.
Still pretty heavy here too:
(I don't think I live on the same estate as Kalniel - 80s built houses all look the same I guess)
That pic of the dog is amazing! Yours? It's stopped in Cardiff for the mo, but more predicted shortly
Argh, oh snow!
The footy tonight's been called off. Was planning on a Papa Johns in front of my computer. Oh well.
It's mostly turned to mush up (NW) and sky's clear so I think that's it for around here hopefully.
Snowed quite a bit today leaving roads even worse. Waited over an hour in the freezing cold for a bus yesterday and it took 40 minutes to complete what usually takes 20 minutes. Horrible snow .
Been snowing for most of the day. It stopped a couple of hours ago though. The station has been asked to supply Land Rover drivers to be put on call from now until Friday morning to help dig people out. What a pity I don't do my Land Rover course until next month!
Speaking of cars: -
Just as well I don't need to drive anywhere.
Well it started snowing here (West Kent) at about 9.30 yesterday evening, to begin with it was huge flakes, larger than I can remember seeing and it was settling at a frightning rate.
It then eased off and eventually stopped meaning that this morning I actually managed to pick my way gently to work.
Left work at 10am due to an emergency back home (another story another time) and I wish the snow had really stopped. It was gently snowing all day until I had to go into town, parked up in the undercover car park and went into the shopping centre, came out about an hour later (about 5.30pm) to find it hammering it down.
My journey that is about 1 mile home took an hour, included me gettin stuck on hills a few times, other people being stuck and to top it off me doing a full 360 spin at about 3mph on a main road (luckily no one in sight).
In the end I had to abandon the car at the entrance to our road as it won't get up and get my parents to bring Emma (our little one) home from theirs as they have a 4x4 and have been quite happily picking their way around all day.
Safe and in the warm now, just need a miracle melt overnight.
We keep loads of drinks in our shed and I just went out to get a bottle of pepsi and it's frozen solid!
Apparently Benson was one of the coldest places last night at -17!
I'm snowed and iced in !
The main road I have to drive along to get out of where I live onto the main roads to work is a complete sheet of ice. Add to that Chiverton Cross Roundabout is closed, and so is Chacewater which means I've got no way of getting to work.
I can't even take a bus because they aren't running and if I were to take a train I'd have to walk down that road which is a sheet of ice and it's so darn slippery that I know I'll hurt myself. As for getting off the train at the other end means walking down a road thats a sheer slope and thats going to be awful. Will just have to make the time up next week.
