Last night's one hour journey became four hours. Still, just heard someone else on the radio from the same town who only got back from a similar journey after seven hours. Lots of lorries attempting to go up slippery hills then jack-knifing, blocking the road for everyone.
Hmm. Over 400 emergency call outs for the area last night. Bored of the snow now.

Cycled in this morning, in my shorts, just because I am a real man
Makes you concentrate mind, when you can see your face in the road and back end is sliding
Naff all last night at 10pm...woke up to find 3-4 inches of snow and the roads not gritted. Get to work and it's a light dusting (4 miles away)...truely bizarre...
Still a few people phoned in to say they were "snowed in"...yet others from the same area managed to make it in!
just walked to work, got a coffee, and been told the sites about to shut down for the day
off to the pub me thinks.
Most people simply don't know how to drive in these conditions, skid pan should be a mandatory part driving lessons/test (and it took me a good half hour to drive home last night ... ).
Mind you the only reason why I know how to handle a car in these conditions is that for my very first birthday after passing my driving test (passed on the 16th January '95, funny how something's stick in the mind really) I went to a rally driving school near Redcar. Best day I've had, taught me how to handle a car in a skid/slide at high speed (was driving an Astra GT-e if I remember correctly).
Well it must have fallen here during the small hours.
Woke up and there is at least 4 inches covering the area.
Took me 2+ hours to go the 13 miles to work! Before that it was discovered that you can go down our lane and onto the main road, but you can't get back up it.
Before I could even go anywhere I had to move the Nissan and park it on a neighbours drive (were meant to be getting a new fridge/freezer delivered, and I really don't want a John Lewis sized lorry mark in the side of it!) That was fun, Limited Slip Diff, and a snowy/icy lane! Moving a car 100m or so doesnt sound like it should take long, yyyeaaaaah glad I wasnt in any hurry to get to work!
And thus, the snowstorm parted and missed me almost completely..

^^ That's what missed me on the southern end
There's some pictures from north norfolk/cambridgeshire which shows what missed by going the other way..
Although, the sky keeps turning an odd yellow colour, so I think we might get some eventually..

Had a bit of fun last night when I popped out around 11:30 to the garage for some smokes.......gritters had only done the main street and I found out just how much fish-tailing a real-wheel drive car can do!!
Needless to say, the journey was slow but very interesting
