Re: House Prices, are we going to see another drop?

We brought our first house in November. At the time there were often 3-4 couples as well looking at the place. We tried to negotiate a price of a few properties but always got beat by someone offering the full amount straight away.

The property we ended up buying (was best of the lot that we saw) we offered the full asking price straight away. I feel there is a shortage of 1st time buyer properties and there are a lot of people thinking this is a good time to buy. hopefully prices have now stabilised.

Since massive generalisations are okay in this thread I'm going with: ******s want to live in London, let them pay more.
To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.

Without reading any of the previous posts (so sorry if I repeat what anyone has already typed) I predict that house prices will once again rise.

As my economics teacher stated there is always going to be more demand, than supply of houses, so that's really the only way it can go.

    It's true. Honest.

Fortunately, I don't want to live in London, it's just the best place for me to work in terms of opportunities and experience. Once I've taken advantage of the former and built up sufficient of the latter, I'm outta here....

They also having irony and sarcasm too.

Understand my point is that we have hot hotspots which people flock too, and anyone who isn't 'pegged' against it will suffer.

I'm not alone with joking about the idea of moving away from places like London (or Hong Kong / New York) for retirement. In London my flat is a grotty little two bed. In Cornwall it would easily buy a 5 bed detached house with garden (no sea view thou).

And as i've mentioned previously a house is a massive outlay for most people, far more than a very good compared to average pension contribution, it is quite restrictive if they are left behind.
